NFLPA to File Grievance for McNair

Looks like McNair/Bus Cook are making this a battle of wills. The Titans could/should play it tough. The way I read this, McNair is under contract right for this season right. Draft the future QB, still try to get McNair to see the light(3 year deal with 9Mil signing bonus for around 14-15 total deal)if he doesn't come to his senses hold onto him (unless of course the ravens or some other teams offer an adaquate draft pick) then release him Sept 1st. He would be just about finished for this season at least until a few injuries happened.

Bad PR move for Steve. The fans will read more into this than they should. I really don't want to boo McNair in 9 months, but if he doesn't see that he is hurting the team with his salary, I say let him go. He is an important player to this team, but he is not 25% of it.

 

This situation is getting uglier then Peyton Manning with bed hair.
Steve isn't worth 25% of the salary cap and he isn't worth what he is earning.

Either get a deal done or trade/release him, settle it soon.

 

Titans totally control this situation. Wish McMVP would realize this. Sheeze

 

Looks like Cook and the Ravens already have a deal worked out for McNair for more than the Titans are willing to pay. If thats the case so be it, give Cook permission to try to work out a trade With Baltimore or the Vikings maybe( package Sirmon with McNair for one of their first rd picks or maybe a 2nd) if not release him as late as possible. Mac is gone but lets dont make it easy on them or Cook.

 

I can't beleive folks are blaming steve when he was the one ask to leave the facility. Steve didn't file a greivance the players association did. THey contacted Bus just trying to protect players rights. I am reading the post and people are taking this as steve and his agent filed a grievance. No the players association filed a grievance.

 

Steve McNair is no longer a team player.
Cut him now so we can sign our draft class.

Player rights my ***. If McNair wants to play for the Titans for a few more years, he can get with the program, and lower his numbers.
Otherwise, the only sadness I feel in seeing him go is that he didn't find a way to leave with class.

 

There is plenty of blame to go around on both sides. We can't blame McNair because his CAP figure is 25% of the team's CAP. That worked out the way it did because of the upfront money McNair was given when his contract was restructured. The Titans kept pushing the CAP $ back until it is now over 2X his normal salary for a year. So 14 million of the CAP money is not McNair's doing. Also, it is actually in the Titans best interest for McNair to play one more year and retire because this year we have a chance at a franchise QB in the draft. The timing of that scenario is not McNair's fault either and the Titans don't want to carry two high priced QBs on the roster past next year. The Titans have really given McNair no choice but to anticipate being released because they basically want him to take 1/2 to 1/3 of what he wants over the next couple of years. No way McNair is going to do it. McNair thinks he can play 3 more years and still thinks he is an elite QB. McNair now is all but pleading for us to release him.

The Titans don't control the situation at all IMO because with their FA signings they have to make room under the CAP so they can sign their draft picks. McNair really controls what happens based on what he is willing to work for. Sure the Titans could wait until late to release him but the Titans might as well move on and use any left over CAP money to find another FA.
