reports state that he was initially going to plead not guilty but his attorney convinced him there was no defenseable action to take so he took the plea. the 2 years was the minimum he would've gotten regardless, he was always going to serve time ,imo

no, hes not. Hes being made an example out of because hes famous.

Vick kills 20+ dogs, he gets a similar sentence.

Stallworth kills a man, he gets 30 days.

Plaxico makes a stupid mistake that harms no one but himself, and his NFL career is over.

they are sending an innocent man to prison in my eyes..

    No!

Bloomberg ran on seriously strengthening gun laws in NY. In this case, Plaxico being a celebrity did the opposite of what it usually does...it REALLY hurt him.

Bloomberg came out right after the incident and publicly said Plax being a celebrity wouldn't help him...and in fact...he would ask for the max sentence (to make an example out of him).

The lawyer was all over sports radio today. They were trying to get a 1 yr prison term (he'd be out in 8 months+), a long probation and a ton of community service since he's already been approached dozens of times about speaking to youths about the dangers of firearms and breaking the law, ect.

But again, the DA had the full support of the Mayor to make an example out of Plax. Now he can kiss 2 seasons goodbye for being stupid and hurting no one but himself.

The real issue is that Bloomberg got this law to have min/max sentences so mitigating circumstances can't really be taken into account by a judge...only what they assign between the min and max. For comparison, Culpepper got 30 days for KILLING someone while drunk. While Culpepper should have gotten a LOT more than the proverbial slap on the wrist (as with Leonard Little and countless others), Plax wasn't trying to hurt anyone, he wasn't stalking someone...he was just stupid and careless and he SHOULD have to pay a price for endangering other people's lives accidentally...but this sentence compared to what other celebrities and NFL players have gotten for MUCH worse stuff, is surprising. If you think about it, Plax is going to jail for the same amount of time as Vick and what Vick did was heinous!!!

I think this is the end of the road for Plaxico Burress.

Unlike Vick i really dont think any team would bother with Plaxico in 2011 at age 34 and a bad history.

All happened in different states. If Plaxico had done this in Texas, he'd be limping around a free man.

    Well...

The ONLY question will be what he has left when he's able to resume his career...and whether he WANTS to.

How old is TO? 2 years ago it appeared Vick's career was over...and yet he didn't have one suitor when he came back (even if he might be suspended for part of this season), Vick had a LOT of suitors. If Plexiglass has something to offer, he'll be back. It's not like he killed someone...
