I love the idea for structured rookie contracts. Especially since Matt Ryan just got 72 mil and 35 mil guaranteed without stepping on the field.

Hopefully, the NFL and the players won't have a lockout, and will come to a reasonable compromise soon.

Upshaw has stated that the players will reject a structured rookie salary and absolutely won't come off the 60%. The posturing already is ugly.

I don't see this thing going anywhere because fans won't support "scab" players. The owner's are the key element to the "infra-structure" of the NFL. The players can be replaced. The owner's could actually go to a new matriculation league if the existing players don't come around. Now THAT would be interesting.

The players need to bend a bit or alternatively, the owner's should sell stock in the franchises to the players. THAT would be interesting also.

Rookie structured salary, 55/45 in favor of players, 3 pre-season games, get rid of the Ravens, Super Bowl always in Nashville. Which brings me to a question, when will Nashville host the SB?

The players are ABSOLUTELY powerless. There isn't another place they can go and make 10% of what they make in the NFL. It's supply and demand. Lock them out, get replacement players, and in 3 years all these whiney rich kids will be happy just to get that few million.

You contradict yourself here. Are you saying fans won't watch scrubs or NFL players can be replaced?

What makes the NFL what it is are the players. Period.

There have been a number of professional football leagues come and go because they had inferior players on the field to the NFL. Fans would drop the NFL like a bad habit if the best in the game weren't on the field. Would you pay $60 a seat watch a game played at the level of the Canadian League?

This is why rookie salaries needs to be addressed:

"Ryan became the second top draft choice to sign when he accepted a six-year, $72 million contract that included $34.75 million in guarantees. Less than a week before the draft, tackle Jake Long signed a five-year, $57.75 million deal with the Miami Dolphins."

Then the could get into a new XLF... or whatever parallel pro league... which wont work either.
