    Not at all....that really is how it's done. Pros refer to verse, chorus, bridge, refrain, coda, etc...garagers say "after the part that goes 'dun dun dunda DUUUH' then we hit the DOOOOSH! diidlydiddlydiddly WAAAAAHHH!!!.."
    This usually stops when the player either becomes pro or marries his girlfriend and retires his guitar. Sometimes, though, players do this well into their 40's and can't understand why nobody folows their lead.

    If you jump around to a lot of different bands - especially as either a hired guy or in a band that relies on knowing a ****load of covers you have to go with bridge/chorus/refrain..
    I fall somewhere in between having spent years and years with the same players. I'll often just refer to other songs that are arranged similarly then add or subtract a verse or a noodley bit..
