Munchak: Jets hits on Locker unnecessary

Nothing was wrong with Wilkerson's hit in the timing.

You guys are watching it in slow motion- but he hits him right at the ball gets out. QBs know they're going to take that hit.

But Coples' is the one that caused the damage and was late. He should get hit for that.



Then again- with the NFL's whole "defenseless" stupid stuff, Jake was defenseless on both.

I don't believe Wilkerson's hit was late, but the fact that he lowered his head and led with the crown of his helmet is considered targeting. Coples hit on the other hand was obviously late. Both should have flagged and I expect fines for both of them.

 

First hit was marginally late. It also was not what caused the injury. That second hit was dirty as hell. The second hit was not hard, but deliberate. It spun Locker around and caused the injuries. F***g dirtbag Coples. That dumb ass ref had no business looking downfield where the ball went. His responsibility is the backfield.

 

they totally missed the call because the same reason every week the officals the titans get in nashville are second rate. Its amazing week after week missing calls or non calls. the first part of the hit i was like he lead with his helmet even if it wasnt late. but the second hit was definitely late and u can see the guy start to pull up walk away and then lower his shoulder

 

Can't flag them if the Ref in charge of watching the QB wasn't paying attention.

 

Like the ref who got trucked over? The NFL needs to investigate that group of refs. Supposedly the same ref got ran over in another game because he wasn't paying attention.

 

you would think 40 yards down the field you are not gonna even be part of the play. I don't know where that ref thought that ball was going but he should have seen nate and cromartie coming right at him.
