Honestly I've noticed that in more movies than just Transformers. It's an "in" style right now and no, I don't like it either.

For me this just speaks to the total lemming culture behind all this hate. There are countless blogs, videos, articles, etc. about how god awful the Transformers movies are. Even though there are other movies just as bad or worse out there that don't get nearly the negative attention. People specifically target Bay's movies because they are successful. It's absurd and childish tbh. It's why the loudest voices are typically pimple-faced teens who think they know it all and pathetic grown ass single men who desperately need to hate something with a burning passion 24/7.

I kinda liken it to that whole Nickelback phenomenon from a few years ago. Somewhere along the way it became cool/funny to say Nickelback was the worst band on the face of the earth. So suddenly everyone CAN'T STAND Nickelback, even though they didn't really give two s***s a few weeks ago. Lemmings.

Personally, I don't look at opening weekend totals... I look at the drop off AFTER THAT.

To me, that's the real story.

I don't think short term, long term.

I know what you are getting at. But there are two ways to look at that. The second one being, if a ridiculous amount of people show up on opening weekend then obviously there's going to be a huge dropoff after that (because such a large % of movie-goers showed up the first weekend).

Look you can enjoy mindless action movies but you don't have to be braindead either. Transformers movie are for the braindead, that is what the video really showed. Bumblebee appearing at the same time in each movie. The main character appearing at the same time in each movie. I mean Bay isn't even trying, he is just using the exact same script and the braindead are falling for it or are just too dumb to even care.

It's why I mention Pacific Rim. At least they are trying and make it entertaining. I just don't see how people are entertained by Transformers movies. I guess you would tell me Godzilla 2000 is as good as the new Godzilla movie. How dare someone criticize Godzilla 2000 right? I mean, it's just a mindless movie, just turn your brain off and enjoy it- lemming.

Transformers movie get so much hate because of two reasons, the financial success and the childhood memories of the transformers series. It's not hard to figure that out.

And I believe it's silly and childish to hate a movie over financial success. That's freaking spoiled b****baby sour grapes stuff.

You're comments are a perfect example of what I'm talking about. Just because YOU don't like the movie means that those who do are "braindead" or "too dumb to care". No. Maybe they just simply don't think it's as bad as you do. What a concept!

Hopefully I didn't just blow your mind.

I didn't say people hate it because it had financial success. You said why don't equally bad movies get as much hate. Because they aren't blockbusters or as popular. Of course people are going to go after what is widely discussed, it's how you find an audience if you are a critic. And red letter media has quite a few shows not all just reviewing big movies. I'm a big fan of their humor but obviously you are just a transformers fanboy.

No the transformers movies are really bad. You've essentially seen the same movie three times which if you watched the video I posted you would realize what in saying there

I get that. What I don't get is why everyone feels the need to be a critic these days. If you wanna tweet how much you hated a particular movie or whatever then so be it. But I don't get these apparent crusades against specific movies, bands, celebrities, etc. Some of these people sure do spend a lot of their free time discussing things and people that they supposedly hate so much. I guess to each his own, but I could think of better things I'd rather do with my time.

I haven't even watched the video yet but I will. And LOL I'm not a Transformers fanboy. I've seen the first one once and the second one once. I enjoyed them enough to not turn them off but not enough to go out of my way to watch them again.

I'm not trying to defend the Transformers movies specifically as much as I am attacking what I believe is this childish, mob-mentality hate toward a successful filmmaker. I don't get hating something "extra" because it happens to be financially successful (I would think as a business-minded conservative you would agree with me on that). And I also don't get hating something "extra" because you had a soft spot for the material as a child and the new version did not live up to what you had in your head.

I feel the same way about people who piss and moan because X, Y, or Z is getting remade/rebooted and "Gee willikers, how dare they tarnish my childhood memories?!?!" A new version of something does not tarnish or destroy the original. I don't understand why it's so hard for people to compartmentalize these things. Carpenter's Halloween isn't any worse or less of a classic because of Zombie's Halloween. And the all-time classic that is 1984's Karate Kid isn't tarnished because of the one with the Fresh Prince's little boy.

But Michael bay raped my childhood!!!

Just FYI red letter media has been doing material for well over half a decade now. They have a cult following. Why do I watch it? Because it's entertaining to me.

Sometimes I wish I was stupid enough to enjoy crap like transformers movies but I'm just not that dumb. And ok I don't really wish that ever either

So I'm guessing you hate rotten tomatoes and meta critic as well?

I feel like we're getting off course. I'm not crapping on red letter media or whatever. I don't hate RT or MC either. I'm talking about how everyone thinks they're a critic these days and more specifically the lemming mentality when it comes to things to hate on.

I guess you should just count your blessings that you're not dumb enough to like Transformers and move on. I'm sure you have more intellectual matters to concern yourself with.
