That's really tough without narrowing it down by either genre or era. I can unequivocally say Game of Thrones, Battlestar Galactica (Ron Moore), and Firefly are my 3 favorite tv series of all time, which might say more about the genres I love than my taste.

I'll give you a random 10 top movies for me.

    Animal House
    Sideways
    12 Monkeys
    Casino
    Children of Men
    The Abyss
    Raiders of the Lost Ark
    District 9
    Gremlins
    Dazed and Confused

Of Comic Book movies I would say Avengers or the original IronMan. Probably IronMan as it was just such an improvement at the time the leap was much better. I did enjoy the second Thor movie, the Hulk movie with Edward Norton, Spider-man 2 (tobey mcguire), Sin City (don't think this should count as comic book movie really), Watchmen, the Batman trilogy, Xmen2, Xmen first class... I've left out a few and I have not seen the most recent X-men, Cap2, or Guardians all of which I will see.

... Sin City is based solely off a comic book. Part of it was directed by the creator - Frank Miller. It was made to resemble the comic.

It is a comic book movie.

What's the difference between a graphic novel and a comic book?

I read The walking dead but always thought of it as a graphic novel which is what I thought sin city was. Or is there no difference?

I still haven't finished Firefly. I got like 2/3 of the way through it then got busy and just never went back to it. No one can ever believe that when I tell them. I really liked it but it didn't blow me away or anything. I need start back from the beginning and finish it though.

Interesting list. Props for including Gremlins. Only movie on your list I wasn't crazy about was District 9. Enjoyed it but ultimately forgettable for me.

Graphic Novels are, typically, collections of a series of comic books. That's what Sin City is. You can get the collected issues together in a Graphic Novel for a complete story... but still a comic book collection.

There are story arcs in comics that last approximately 6-8 issues... which is perfect for a graphic novel collection. The general focus now.

Off the top of my head some of my faves are....

    The Godfather 1/2
    City of God
    The Big Lebowski
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
    The Professional
    The Thing
    The Silence of the Lambs
    Seven
    Stand By Me
    The Shining

Lebowski might be my all-time favorite just for the simple fact that I can watch that movie anytime it's on and it never gets old. From a pure entertainment standpoint it's tough to beat.
