    flashback to 2010.

every mock draft had the titans selecting a much needed stud pass rusher (difference maker) on defense. so they mocked them jason pierre-paul. yes he was raw but sheer talent would make this guy the ultimate playmaker on defense.

with the 15th pick in the 2010 nfl draft, the new york giants select ... jason pierre-paul south florida.

ok well not to worry ... theres still derrick morgan on the board and the titans can still find a dominate pass rusher and arguebly the top rated d-line in the draft, even over the freak athlete pierre paul.

with the 16th pick in the 2010 nfl draft, the tennessee titans select ... derrick morgan georgia tech.

now i dont know if anyone saw the dallas / nyg game tonight but pierre-paul single handedly won the giants the game. eli manning is as clutch as they come but pierre-paul was in absoleute beast mode out there. sacks, forced fumbles and block field goals. it was his blocked field goal to end the game and give the g-men the victory on the road tonight. purley clutch. this dallas game wasnt the only game pierre-paul has been clutch in.

3 tackles, 2 sacks and blocked field goal to go with some strips as well.

yet everytime i see a titans boxscore, morgans totals are usually 1 tackle, a assit.

this is not meant to bash morgan in any way but this brings me to my point, the titans have lacked a dominate pass rusher since jevon kearse and it pains me to think we could have been just 1 pick away ... 1 PICK AWAY!!! from getting that guy ...

morgan still has time to prove me wrong but with his injuries, the non-performance on the stat sheet and boxscores it almost just seems like this defense has a bunch of mediocre guys who can rotate in and out and no one dominate what-so-ever ...

i look at pierre-paul and i see a difference maker, a play maker, ball hawk, qb's nightmare ... you name it. he seems much quicker, athletic and just knows how to make the big plays on defense. i dont know maybe its all on coaching? maybe titan fans will be quick to point out jerry gray only ...

but when will the titans get a CONSISTENT pass rusher like him and not the same old, medicore lets rotate 6 different guys in on defense stuff ...

Man u beat me to this I was going to start a thread on the exact same thing about how we where one pick from a dominat pass rusher. Man JPP looked unstoppable tonight and was one of the two reason the giants wont the game the other being eli. I won't say Morgan is a bust because it's to early but I really need to some flashes that shows me that he has a bright future because I don't see it yet.

I wouldn't say that he's a bust either. I would say that he isn't nearly as good as I'd hoped. This deep into a season, a first round defensive end should have at least one or two very good games under his belt. I don't recall any out of Morgan.

Wait until next season to judge Morgan since he is coming off that knee injury.

Last year he had as many sacks in 3 games that he has in 13 this year so he obviously lost something. Maybe next year he gets that extra 1/2 step back.

Basic rule of thumb here is to look for big tall defensive linemen who are also athletic. They are more likely to be the difference makers. Not that Morgan is short at 6'3 but the guys who are 6'5 or taller tend to have more impact. Paul(6'5) and Dunlap(6'6) were the best De's in that draft and JJ Watt is a stud this year at 6'6 290. Ryan Kerrigan is also a stud player at 6'4.

Speaking of Giants taking the picks I wanted 1 pick before...how about 2009. Giants have the 29th pick and take Hakeem Nicks. My heart drops. Titans have the next pick and take Kenny Britt. Now I'm not complaining about Britt, but the off the field and injury problems concern me and Nicks is an absolute monster.

Hasn't Nicks had some injury problems too? I actually prefer Britt over Nicks.
