More Bad Rule Changes.

    NFL approves rule changes: Chop blocks eliminated, PAT snaps from 15 permanent

    "Among the approved rules was the elimination of all chop blocks, an expansion of the horse collar rule to include instances in which defenders grab the nameplate of the jersey and a permanent approval of the 15-yard line as the line of scrimmage for extra points."

    Grabbing the nameplate being illegal is ridiculous. Bring back the break-away jerseys.

    Horse collar rule was long overdue, but the name plat should be fair game, just like hair is. Theres enough give in a jersey that its not detrimental to the game, IDK why that was passed.

    Going to be interesting to see how the new chop block rule affects offenses. I noticed that it was used frequently in Kelly's offense at Philadelphia to clear out throwing lanes for quick passes. I wonder how he is going to deal with it this season.

    I am interested to see how it affects his offense since there were some on here who thought he should be hired over Mularkey. If he can't come up with a solution to that new rule, then his scheme is going to be severely handicapped.

    I agree. I think this will end his experiment with the NFL. I think he will return to College with his tail between his legs at the end of this season. He better hope they don't adopt the same rule, or he will have to develope a new scheme.

    The name plate grabbing is just something to make it easier on officials. Grabbing a certain part of the jersey should not be illegal, but I don't know how many times I saw an official throw the flag for a horse collar when it just the name plate.
