It was a very entertaining game. The Cards are so loaded at WR. They're fun to watch.

I'm shocked the Niners decided to go up the middle on that final play without Gore in the game. It reminded me of the Titans going with Hall on Sunday. Sometimes it's just better to go with what you do best even if the opponent knows what's coming.

Hall would have scored had he held on to the ball. That was a good play call.

The 49ers screwed the whole last 37 seconds or so. On the pass that got them down to the 2 the offense should have run down the field and spiked the ball (or had a pre-planned pass play they could quickly run). Instead they tried to swap personnel and didn't get the ball snapped until 20 seconds left. Then they run the ball on the next play and end up burning almost the rest of the clock. That was just stupid. They could have passed twice and still had the option to run on 4th down. The last call was beyond ridiculous.

IMO teams don't do a good enough job of preparing for those situations. Even with an inexperienced QB there should have been a simple way to communicate that he should spike the ball and then the offense can regroup. A even better scenario is to have a play just for that situation where they run down and run a play with the defense expecting a spike.

I don't like the last play call at all, but you have to like what Mike Singletary is doing with this team. Just three weeks and two games as coach, and the difference is obvious. If the 49ers will give Singletary four years and let him have a lot of input on the guys they bring in there, San Fran will become one of the league's nastiest teams. If they give Singletary a little time, he will have a team nobody will want to play.

We are ancient 49er fans and this is one of the best 49er games we've seen in a long time! Singletary may be a key to bringing the ol' miners back. I hope so, we've suffered too long with mediocre coaching. :spud:
