My expectations are in check, but I'm remaining optimistic.

I DON'T GET TO BE OPTIMISTIC ABOUT THIS FRANCHISE OFTEN HAMMER, JUST LET ME HAVE THIS!!!

I think he will carry three also: Locker, Whitehurst and Wilson

Be optimistic that we have solidified the offensive line for years to come and can now focus on other priorities while they come together. Be optimistic that the Titan tradition of strong left tackles will continue. That we have one of the two most important positions locked up for years to come :)

    There would be riots LOL.

Seriously, I don't see how anyone could think they would be able to sell outright cutting Mettenberger to the fans. Like, at all. Barring of course some off the field incident or him like throwing the wrong direction in practice or something. We spent 2 picks (which was 28.5% of our total draft picks) on acquiring this guy lol. The majority of fans A) do not believe Locker can stay healthy, and/or B) do not believe in him as a potential franchise QB, period. The Mettenberger pick has at least given us some hope. Their just going to snatch that away and go "Whoops. Our bad on blowing those two picks."? I just do not see it. #1 it would not be a popular move with the fans, and #2 it would make the FO look like complete idiots for using not only one, but two draft picks on the kid.

I hope so. But I think you gotta be careful when talking about having a major position/group "locked up" based on a draft pick who's never even stepped one foot on a NFL field.

His only real shot was in Seattle and he clearly blew it. The Chargers were not going to bench Rivers for him regardless of how well he played in practice/preseason the last two seasons. That doesn't mean he can't hold off a rookie to keep the #2 job.

I think the Horton hybrid defense is going to make things challenging from a personnel situation. The Titans may need to keep a ninth LB to make it work since LB is also common on special teams. If Washington remains the KR, then a roster spot is used there as well on a guy who really has no value at RB.

There are 4th, 5th and 6th-round QBs all over the league on practice squads. I don't buy that an unimpressive Mett automatically gets snatched if he lands on the practice squad. If he shows enough this training camp, then going shorter at WR or elsewhere will have to happen.

Someone on a Raydah board said the same thing about Wilson last year.

Washington is going to be cut.....no value as a RB, and outside of KR, no value at special teams. We have Mariani, who can be.......*serviceable* as a low string receiver, and can play special teams. Then you have McCluster, who does incredibly well at returns.

    Right now our RBs are
    • Greene
    • Sankey
    • McCluster
    • Battle
    • Washington
All of those guys can provide at running back and special teams outside of Greene and Sankey, but those guys will be carrying the rock more often. Washington is certainly not going to be around long.

Well based on your comment that our 3 QBs would be Locker, Whitehurst, and Wilson. Or are you that confident of PUP (and if so, why)? If he legitimately can't go then that's a different story. But I don't see us "hiding" him on the PUP for the likes of Wilson. I don't think we traded up to get this guy to not have him on the active roster this season.

I guess we'll find out soon enough.
