Middle linebacker Colin McCarthy is expected to make his preseason debut against the Vikings on Thursday after missing the first three games with a hamstring injury.

Rookie safety Daimion Stafford (hamstring) and linebacker Greg Jones (ankle) are also likely to return.

Ruled out for the game are wide receivers Kendall Wright (knee) and Marc Mariani (shoulder), as well as linebackers Akeem Ayers (ankle) and Zaviar Gooden (ankle). All four are anticipated to be ready for the season opener on Sept. 8.

Coach Mike Munchak sounded doubtful about the chances of defensive tackle Sammie Hill (elbow), safety Markelle Martin (hamstring) and defensive end Ropati Pitoitua (hand) playing Thursday.

Linebacker Zach Brown (ankle) and fullback Quinn Johnson (hamstring) are questionable. Johnson is expected to return to practice this week.

Great news! We are all very proud of you McCarthy. Now, how many seconds into the first quarter will it take for you to sprain your left pinky toe?

He should play damn near the whole game. If he can't handle a full game we should find out now rather than in September.

No he hasn't. He hasn't proven a damn thing yet, therefore he isn't missed at all by me.
