He was overpaid for sure, but everyone talking like he's some mediocre player and the Titans are somehow better off without him is nuts. That sounds like sour grapes to me. He is a very, very good defensive end.

 

You don't give 100 million dollar contracts to players that are "very, very good." Those types of contracts should be reserved for once in a lifetime players.

He is a VERY good DE. Imo, the Titans are better off not giving a DE $50 million guaranteed. Especially one who's VERY good, but not great.

 

I'd love to have Mario.

But at that price? Hell no. That is a cap killer.

I'd MUCH rather have manning at what I suspect he will cost than Mario at anywhere near that price.

He will make far more difference per dollar than Mario would.

 

Being 24th against the run and last in sacks is a Super Bowl contention killer

Why are people so shocked by this? He's not the first player for this to happen to an he wont be the last. Take this years draft for example..theres going to be a few 2-3 round guys getting drafted in the 1st because this years draft is pretty weak. So they'll get get paid more. In FA EVERY YEAR there are guys who are overpaid..because they usually get targeted by a team that desperate to make a big splash so they throw all the big bucks at them. He's cashing in on the market. Buffalo's desperation + Mario being really the only high profiled Defensive guy = big pay day. It does every time. And in a year or 2 some other FA will jump him for the same reason lol

 

I honestly believe manning will help our defense more than Mario would.

The defense will be on the field less. They will have a lead more. He will help CJ actually gain POSITIVE yardage and burn some clock, letting the defense rest.

Mario would get what, nine to 11 sacks a year? For fitty mill guaranteed?

Meh. We're better off.
