Yeah, low 5s is unimpressive even for the non athlete.

There are tons of people in the U.S. that can run in the 4.3s-4.4s, most track stars can. there are people faster than CJ out there.:
but to be able to do that and have the skill to play football at the NFL level is the feat.

 

I ran a 4.55 at Disney World in cargo shorts, no socks, and clunky asics.

But really, if Mallet runs that slow- I could literally beat him backwards. That's crazy.

 

Of all my concerns about Mallett, I have to say that a 40 time doesn't faze me much. It's all about escapability and extending a play for a QB, and his time at Arkansas is a much better indicator of how he did in that department than a 40 time.

They need a QB drill like they have in Madden; throwing at dummies while having tennis balls shot at you. That'd be fun to watch!

Mallett is not cut from the same cloth as Brady, completely different people. Being that Brady shuffles around the pocket buying time, we know slow QB's can be effective. But I'd literally beat Mallett running backwards! How awful is that.....

You've got to be joking. I bet half this board is faster than Mallett, even Ewker. I don't need video proof to know he's stupid slow, most 5th graders are running 5.1's and such... Mallett is a scrub for this. He'd literally be our slowest player. Michael Roos is faster than this guy.

 

I'm personally a big Mallett fan, and hope the Titans take him. So far the only negatives you guys have pointed out are: He's stupid, he runs slow, and potential drug use.

Then theres the fact that he ran a 5 whatever 40 time. Who cares? Sure he's slow, he's a QB.. I don't care if my QB can run a 4.5, sure it's nice to have.. but isn't an arm more important then being able to scramble? He's decently agile in the pocket, check this video. At :44 he does a bootleg, is outside the pocket and throws the ball great. 1:17 he's outside the pocket. 1:20 he scrambles a couple yards for a TD.1 1:28 another outside the pocket bullet pass. At around 2:00 he's scrambling. 2:35 another pass with movement in the pocket. This guy can move within the pocket, and that's all the speed I care about.

Then as for the drug use, there is zero proof. He's declined it, and it's just a stupid rumor until there is proof.
