Titans quarterback Jake Locker practiced for the second straight day on Thursday and remains on track to start on Sunday against the Chargers.

Locker, who separated his left shoulder against the Patriots, increased his reps in practice and Coach Mike Munchak said he threw the ball well.

“He probably did a little more than half the reps in each period, not quite everything but close,’’ Munchak said. “But he did well. He wasn’t sore from yesterday, did more and hopefully tomorrow he’ll do even better and on Sunday we’ll just go play.”

The news isn’t so good for middle linebacker Colin McCarthy, however. McCarthy missed practice against Thursday and isn’t expected to play on Sunday. Munchak called him doubtful. Will Witherspoon will replace McCarthy in the middle, while rookie Zach Brown moves into Witherspoon’s spot.

Two other players – running back Javon Ringer (elbow) and tackle Mike Otto (knee, finger) have been ruled out.

Receiver Nate Washington, meanwhile, didn’t practice on Thursday but is expected to return to practice on Friday. Washington, who suffered a leg contusion on Sunday, is expected to play vs. the Chargers. Guard Steve Hutchinson was given Thursday off but will play on Sunday. The Titans also expect guard Leroy Harris, who returned to practice Thursday, to play on Sunday.
