And what part of "under the rules of the NFL it wasn't a catch" don't you understand. If you truly do understand the rule as you say you do then you'd admit it wasn't a catch under the current rules.

The rule itself is suspect and seems to be applied and not applied in differing situations.
Detroit can at least hang their hats on knowing they outplayed the hibernators..

One thing's for certain, the next time CJ scores, he'll wrap both arms around the ball and take it with him to the sidelines.

I agree with Fisher on this one. Calvin Johnson knows the rule (or he should). It's his fault, not the refs or anybody else.

A Catch in the NFL can only be defined by the rules. So the rule is the only thing you can use to judge whether or not a catch occured. You can argue that the refs "mis-interpreted the rules" but thats NOT the issue here. The refs interpreted the rule correctly and fullfilled the law to the uttmost. If the refs had called it a catch, it would have infringe upon the legitamcy of the rule. When refs mis-interpret the rules people are usually up in arms against their decision because we want to see the rules up held for fairness sake. But this time we are actually angery because the refs interpretted the rule correctly! In this case definition goes against public opinion. By definition it was not a catch and the refs made the correct call. So in fairness the rule must be upheld and until that definition of a catch is changed we cannot make any agrument that will suffice. The refs did not blow the call, they fullfilled the rule, we can not blame the refs on this one.

I guarentee that all Bears fans will agree.

If ball in control, two feet down and butt on ground is NOT a catch, then the NFL needs to redefine a touchdown also. I'd be obligated in this case to argue that the Titans got a free touchdown (don't remember which game, years ago) when the ball was reached over a one-yard pileup to "break the plane" and then retracted. Though credited with a touchdown, the process of scoring was not finished.

According to this (Calvin Johnson) interpretation of the rule, a ball breaking the plane in complete controlled possession is not a touchdown. Neither the rule nor the reasoning holds water. Good thing they're not in the legal profession or they'd be totally screwed.
