It's gonna come down to whether Munch wants to keep a return threat or a WR. Hawkins is a better receiver than Mariani at this point in time.

I think that Hawkins will get better as the season goes on. As long as he stays active in the offense. I think he'll benefit from the play time and hopefully comes up big for us!

Huh? One guy has great speed and the other doesn't. Hawkins never beats anybody down the field if he has a 20 yard play it is when he makes a 7 yard catch and gets YAC.

I'm underwhelmed by many comments here. JC called a 4th year player "new". He is not new!

2 posters talked about Hawkins getting "cut" next year. You can't cut a guy who is a free agent. Duh! The issue is if he wants to play here and for how much. He has done nothing his whole career but so many are in love with this guy. Let him occupy the back of some other bench.

And no you can't just coach a player to stop dropping passes.

Lavelle Hawkins will be 35, retired and flipping burgers at a fat Moes and we will still have posters saying that he has the potential to be great, if only.

Lavelle's lack of playing time in his career has been because of younger less experienced Wrs playing ahead of him on the depth chart. Britt and D-Will to name 2. D-Will was ahead of Hawkins on the depth chart last year and he was only a rookie. A rookie beating out a third year guy!

    The entire concept is stupid!

I think that you can also add to Hawkins "lack of playing time" resume ....

    A. A head coach that would never play rooks whatever their talent level.
    B. Either a turn-over machine or a flake at QB - not good for receptions or continuity.
    C. Pretty much an offense based on run first ..... then run again under the moustached genius.

Theres several more ... its great that Hawkins is getting time and playing better but I think he'll be elsewhere come next year ; Buccaneers looks a good fit.

He is a good blocker and an underrated special teamer. I think he is done after this season either because 1) He doesn't improve and the Titans don't want him or 2) He does improve and someone else wants him more.
