One of the few true heroes to play the game of football. I have nothing but respect for someone who can give up millions in the NFL to go fight for his country, or really anyone with the guts to go get shot at for something they believe in, whether it's the specific cause or general patriotism, I have nothing but respect, because I know I couldn't do it.

Did you know that he passed up FA $$$ out of loyalty to a perennial loser of a franchise? He said something along the lines of "they gave me my start/chance when nobody else would... so I'm going to resign here even if it is for less money." That just doesn't happen. Tillman embodied class. You never hear of stories like that. If anything you hear people tell you that nobody does that.

Nobody except Pat Tillman of course. :trophy:

Cant argue with that. It is a shame the way this whole thing was handled afterword though.

I wouldn't say a hero of football as a hero of life. Passing up the easy (well easier), more lucrative lifestyle of the NFL to go fight for his country.

yeah, what I was trying to get at was that nobody is really a hero for what they do on the field, I guess I could have made that clearer

Not disagreeing with what you say, because you are right as he wasnt a superstar player. But it would be nice if other players would at least use him as an example of keeping priorities in order.

Pat Tillman's facial structure was the prototype for G.I. Joe.
