You'd probably be better off with MW3. There will be a new 2K in like six months and you'll be kicking yourself for not waiting. That's the main reason why I just got MLB 12: The Show yesterday instead of NBA2K12.
True, but there is also a new Black Ops coming out. It depends on what the reviews are like for 2K13.
2K12 is pretty good, and I got it for $30 new about a month ago. MW3 sucks. And the new MW coming out seems crowded and just too much...I could be wrong though. Madden comes out in a few months, excited for that.
FWIW, as it is all an opinion..... I LOVED MW1 and 2. The stories were amazing and I could not wait for 3. Black Ops came out, and I was really disappointed. Story did just not do it for me. So when MW3 came out, I bought it just for the story and decided to later trade it in for Battlefield 3 as I prefer its multiplayer. I did not get past the first few scenes. It just seemed like as soon as you put it in, you just had a straight up Michael Bay scene. It felt far stretched and I just felt like they were pushing everything. Thats me though, I have not heard anything say really great things about it. Its unfortunate though because I really wanted to see how they wrapped things up.
