<p><em>Posted by ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky</em></p> <p>If the first round of the NFL draft went as Mel Kiper Jr. envisions in his <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/insider/columns/story?id=4095104" target="_blank">final mock draft</a> (Insider subscription required) -- and we know it doesn't ever work like that -- I think all four AFC South teams would be quite pleased.</p> <p>Here's Mel's final word, with some commentary from yours truly.</p> <p><strong>8. <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=jac" target="_new">Jacksonville Jaguars</a>: <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nfldraft/draft/tracker/player?draftyear=2009&id=24682">Michael Crabtree</a>, WR, Texas Tech</strong></p> <p>To go from <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=2163" target="_new">Dennis Northcutt</a> and <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=10523" target="_new">Mike Walker</a> as the top two receivers to <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=1757" target="_new">Torry Holt</a> and Michael Crabtree in the span of a few days makes the Jaguars significantly more dangerous.</p> <p><strong>15. <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=hou" target="_new">Houston Texans</a>: <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nfldraft/draft/tracker/player?draftyear=2009&id=24714">Aaron Maybin</a>, DE, Penn State</strong></p> <p>We've been talking more about tackle than end as a need, but with Maybin as a pass-rusher opposite <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=9587" target="_new">Mario Williams</a> on passing downs, free-agent addition <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5660" target="_new">Antonio Smith</a> would kick inside and help cure the deficiencies there.</p> <p><strong>27. <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=ind" target="_new">Indianapolis Colts</a>: <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nfldraft/draft/tracker/player?draftyear=2009&id=23891">Peria Jerry</a>, DT, Mississippi</strong></p> <p>The second-best defensive tackle in the draft would bring the sort of size the Colts have lacked inside, and his presence could have a trickle down impact on every other player on the defense.</p> <p><strong>30. <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=ten" target="_new">Tennessee Titans</a>: <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nfldraft/draft/tracker/player?draftyear=2009&id=24474">Darius Butler</a>, CB, Connecticut</strong></p> <p>I don't know how the Titans feel specifically about Butler, but my sense is they'd prefer <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nfldraft/draft/tracker/player?draftyear=2009&id=23927">Alphonso Smith</a> to him in this scenario. They talked Thursday about <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nfldraft/draft/tracker/player?draftyear=2009&id=23967">Malcolm Jenkins</a>, <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/nfldraft/draft/tracker/player?draftyear=2009&id=24680">Vontae Davis</a> and Smith forming the first tier of corners.</p>

What an utterly boring pick as usual. If we go defense 1st round ..i swear.. something in my house will be broken immediately .

Better start getting your arm loose, Finnegan.

After seeing some tape on Butler, I would be pretty stoked if he's our pick. He is a pretty amazing cover guy with a serious nose for the football. He reminds me of Finny's style - well, maybe not as brutal a tackler, but you get the point.

picking a CB in the first is a waste.... best value MACHOOOOOOOOOOOO harris pick 60. (we will have our 2nd round pick becuase this boldin story is either bs, or the titans will opt to keep their salary cap money in the piggy bank)

Nice but I see Pettigrew falling to us. In Fish's system I see him playing a much larger roll than any WR in this draft.

I think we will have a reciever by the end of the first round. Dinger all but said he only has two guys he can depend on, and one, Nate, is coming into his first year with us. It's our most pressing need and there appear to be a lot of options in this draft. I see it shaking out like this: If there's a reciever high on our board still there at 30, we take him. If not, we get Boldin with 30 (a contingency plan has probably been struck already). I'd rather draft a rookie, personally, for salary reasons.

I think that if absolutely necessary we can take Nicks at 30 and hope that D.J. Moore falls or we could trade up to get him.

I like our chances of getting a quality corner in the 2nd. DJ could play in nickle packages and be an asset in the return game immediately. There are a lot of DB's who can help us and will still be available at 62.

I just want to take this opportunity to speak freely:

Mel Kiper is retarded and is usually always wrong.
