if we get a second rounder, taking him there should be seriously considered.

 

Considering he's likely to play nickel at this level, I don't think he makes round 1, but top half of round two. Still a starter.

 

I can see the nickel projections, but all year he was projected to be on the outside.

imo, he goes in the first based on his coverage skills alone. mid second at the latest imo. If we could get him there, would be a steal.

 

Coaches and evaluators at the senior bowl asked him to play/practice inside and he did mostly all week.

 

I don't even think you can draft nickel backs in the 2nd round. we got mccain cheap in FA and he was serviceable.

 

He would be borderline top end talent at nickel regardless. 3rd cbs matter when 4-2-5 package is a 70% "base"

 

true, but still, they aren't valued by nfl gms

slot wrs don't get paid a whole lot either by nfl gms. just the nature of going against the others teams 3rd worse wr (usually)

Nickel cornerbacks matter BIG TIME. Especially with the evolution of the majority of NFL Offenses... Not just Nickel corners that can cover the slot specialists -- but a corner that can get a hand in the passing lane of a TE -- another major ulcer of our defense last year...

This year, to address our TE-white-flagging.... (Granted First look through FA) Draft an ILB that can actually cover, and most def. a Nickel corner...

I can't see anyway past us taking 2 cornerbacks this draft -- at either ends...

Pending a talent you can land - a Nickel is very much so worth a 2nd rd. pick.
