His 5-7 records were atrocious.

Getting rid of Fulmer was not the problem. Hiring turncoat Kiffin (yes I was a fan at the time) killed the program. With what Kiffin did there was no real option. At least Dooley has given the image of cleaning up the program.

But I'd rather everyone call UT "SCAM" as long as we have national titles or at least 8, 9, 10 win seasons again.

What's so good about 8-4? Fulmer and Fisher were the exact same person in different bodies. Fulmer should have been let go 3 years earlier than he was. His tactics and predictability grew old QUICK. And he was stubborn with his staff much like this organization has been.. aka, ignoring obvious weaknesses.
