Thought, he got like 4.5 million for one year. Thats a million more than any player on our defensive, don't consider that cheap.

I don't think that trying to get Peyton really hurts the team at all. The team would probably be in the same position regardless.

I think getting Peyton is a big gamble. If it happens, there is a very real chance that we threw away a pick on Locker. I can't really blame Bud, though. He has given this team his life and the clock is definitely ticking.

    Jason Jones...

Yeah, Peyton Manning is the reason we didn't re-sign a guy.

    Heard it all now.

You nailed it DW. Titans were not going to make Mario the highest paid defensive player all time, for a guy that averages <9 sacks per year. Abraham would be 34, do you really want him on a 3 year deal? No.

What other main FAs would we go after? Meyers or Wells would of been nice - and they opted to go elsewhere.

This FA class just didn't mix well with our needs. Luckily, the draft class does. Solid DL draft class, hopefully we can fill it up.

True. Plus Hutchinson is a great addition whether we get Manning or not.

In hindsight maybe the best way to handle FA this year was to not fool around with Mario because we knew the contract would be ridiculous. Then if we don't also go after Manning we could do the following:

    1. Make Finny a better offer than the one we made last summar but less than what he got with the Rams and hope he takes it. He didn't want to play for $8 mil a year and got $10. Maybe we keep him for $9.
    2. Still sign Hutch or some other FA OG to take Scott's place.
    3. Offer a little more to get Meyers or Wells.
    4. Forget Abraham and Mario but look hard at all the other DEs and DTs available in FA and do the best we can without spending mega bucks on someone who isn't worth it or is too old. Basically what we are doing now but whoever would already be signed.
    5. Maybe be a player in a FA WR who might be able to help us. Not a great need but if we have a little money to work with at least consider it.
    6. Go into FA looking for BPA but DE is obviously the biggest need (one of the few needs).

Either way we come out with a re-vamped OL, still have Finny and a rotational guy at DE. The team is better and we have the draft to really make improvements.

Now I don't think things are totally messed up even if we don't get Manning. We can still sign an upgrade at C (Koppen? - we might still get Saturday if we get Manning), still sign that rotational depth guy at DE (Anderson) so the biggest loss might be Finny.

    1) Go to wikipedia

    2) Type in "TENNESSEE TITANS"

    3) Scroll down to "Roster"

    4) Look at our defensive line

    You're welcome.

Possibly we would have a new center by now if not for Peyton, but there's now way we were gonna give Mario Williams anywhere near that kind of money and the Bills are retarded for doing so. There are still centers available that would be an upgrade over Amano. (obviously) Switching Amano and Harris back to their old positions would also help and should be considered as well if we don't get a new center imo. I think our offense will be improved regardless of what Manning does and that will cut down on the 3 and outs that were absolutely killing our defense last season imo.

Bottom line is going after Manning is worth the risk imo.

Obviously, we have to do something there, but what would you have suggested? Throw a hundred million at Mario Williams? (who is WAY overrated) I'm glad we didn't do that. Getting more D-Lineman is not an option. It is a must and it will happen. We may use the draft for that, or we may sign a FA or two. Still think going after Manning is a good idea.
