Yes Jerry, we do....
Just don't play them 300 yards off the guy in-front of them or else they won't have the chance...
I think if he does that crap again, he might disappear overnight.
Polite way of saying "Now that we actually have good players......"
...I actually heard it quite differently.
I'd say its the polite way of saying now we have a D-Coach on staff with some cojones....
Never understood this argument.
So jam the WR, let him get behind the corner, and rely on the safeties we had last year???
yea.... i see that working. (Griff and Babs if anyone forgot)
May be the reason we were looking for a press corner this draft.
I'm pretty sure we didn't have to play 10 yards off foe "safety" of getting burned... That's dumb. I don't see any other teams doing that. McCourty has the size to play press. I'm sure Campbell could have mauled people at the line even if he did get burned once in awhile. Verner of course is slightly smaller and would need to be in the slot for that anyways... So it's still a moot point. A rookie third rounder is gonna be instantly better than a cb with similar size and nfl coaching for a couple years? Really?
Fans thinking they know more than coaches is just as dumb imo. Yes, there were games (ESPECIALLY the Lions) where I wondered WTF they were doing, however I also didnt have delusions about how bad this team was on defense. You cant win anything with average to below average secondary and defensive line.
If you cant get pressure, the CB's have to cover a long time, making it harder to cover.
10 men on the field? Nail him to the wall, he deserves to be called out for that. However I think some people overvalue our corners and what they can do. Potential to do is one thing, results are another.
I dont feel like going through and finding specific answers but a lot of teams have their CB's playing 10 yards off the WR. Its not like we are the only team who does that, not by a long shot. Theres a reason for it, depending on the scheme, players, and team.
Then why didnt he? Gray, with 10+ years experience didnt know McCourty could play press?
Who? That guy on special teams? or the guy who had 12 tackles and one PD last year? He has to prove he can do it before I assume anything. So far he has shown me one thing, that he is fast. NO make that two, that he can get 2 personal fouls on special teams in one game lol.
Hopefully he becomes who we want him to be but as of now, he is nothing.
Im saying that they went after a type of player "press corner", why would you do that if you had what you needed on the defense?
I am not some Gray fan, and honestly not even a Munch fan. However the amount of comments that are basically one liner shots, dont make what we believe any more reality than what think.
This video was pretty clear that we needed some pieces before he could run this defense like he wanted. I was arguing that all season last year and Gray pretty much said the same thing in this video. You cant just plug people in and hope for the best.
Its my opinion that if you think the games were bad last season, then put the corners on the line with the WR's and watch it get worse.
That's what comes to mind when Jerry speaks. The defense does the same thing during def meetings that peppermint Patty just did (zzz).
