As a kid I had 3 incidents happen involving fireworks, no one was hurt any of those times, but each time was certainly a scare.

All 3 times it was user error, either us kids trying something foolish or us pushing the envelope to see what we could get away with. Never once have I had defective fireworks tho.

Yall are soft. Fireworks are one of the most fun parts of growing up. My buddy had this old ass dog who would literally eat lit fireworks like tanks, he was awesome. Awesome and very much dead.

That's probably a pure numbers thing. I'd imagine sparklers (maybe bottle rockets?) are easily the most common fireworks bought/used. Also I'm sure a lot of idiots give them out to little kids thinking "What could go wrong?".

I have a hard time envisioning a way in which a responsible adult could get seriously injured with a sparkler.

Don't get me wrong....I am ok with the whole "stupid is as stupid does" approach to fireworks as long as people remember who is responsible for those little injuries and other casualties associated with it (don't start to lawyer up and have others pay for their own stupidity). Actually, it is a good "thinning the herd" activity that @GoT has advocated for I guess.

Nothing sadder feeling as an adult than holding a sparkler, only a child can get excited and flail those things around causing injuries...

I'm a sniper with a hand thrown bottle rocket. Screw a gun. Let me carry 5 of those and a lighter and I'm safe in any situation.

You guys ever grill fireworks? Or even better, roast marshmallows with long bottle rockets?

JCB's 3 things you dont want to do with fireworks:
    1. put them in a paper bag and light on fire with fireworks inside and wait to see whos most chicken.
    2. throw used up fireworks in a bonfire...
    3. try building your own out of unused firework parts
All good fun but dumb as hell

Key words are "responsible adult." There are not many of these.

Responsibility is increasingly rare, since most everything is spoon fed to us, nowadays.
