You also can't hide him from better competition either. With Locker starting we have a chance to win those games and by starting Hass your basically trying to forfeit those games. Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk 2
He performed well against any competition he faced last year. He didn't fold in the Saints game, he gave us a shot to win.
Not sure if you really understand the make up of locker. Unlike cam and young... Tebow, he doesn't pout. He doesn't get down on himself. He's a team first player, hard nose football instincts. Losing will make him better. Because he actually strives to be the better player and learn from his mistakes. Washington was a joke football program. They lost. A lot. Locker still came out on top.
He's a classy guy for sure. He sat down with this preacher who asked him about that hit in the Saints game and he was like "yeah.. it was my fault" I don't care it it was my fault, I'm pissed out of my mind at somebody that I took the hit of my life just before throwing the game winner, lol.
That was my point exactly. I hope you didn't think I was talking down about him. He needs to face tougher competition because it will only make him better. This isn't Vince Young we are talking about here and we don't have to breast feed Jake. He is ready to go. Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk 2
I didn't take it as that. The thing that I was referring to, was that he didn't let us down ONCE last season. He was poised and fairly accurate for a rookie who was rushed into the season due to the lockout. There were other teams that proved that rookie QB's can produce in this league. I don't see why Jake Locker wouldn't be able to perform in his 2nd year with a whole off-season to learn and train. He's getting Kenny Britt back, has a talented young rookie in Wright, and has Washington, Cook, Williams, and Hawkins to throw to. Jake Locker is in a great situation. I'm hoping Locker wins the job outright in camp. I really like Hasselbeck. He seems like a team guy and is consistent and a smart QB. I'd like him in a backup role this season however. If Locker was to ever go down, Hasselbeck would be able to lead us far as well. We need both QBs. I appreciate Hasselbeck, but I want who gives us the chance to go the farthest.
There is no doubt, at least in my mind, that locker will start week 1. Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk 2
Can you really win the job outright in camp? I would judge some on their preseason performance. I want Locker to start, but he has to definitively WIN the job. I wouldn't throw Locker into our first 6 games unless he is clearly playing better than Hasselbeck.
