I'm not letting it go when it's relevant.

If people don't like hearing about VY they'd better find another team to follow and ignore this one. I still have to hear about how great Steve McNair is. Deal with it, and if it's not of interest to you- skip ahead.

People overhyped Vince before knowing what he was or wasn't capable of. They're doing the exact same with Jake. Setting kids up for failure.

^Sorry Deuce, I don't buy it. Every QB drafted in the first round comes with hype. Locker is no different. And, I don't believe Vince Young, the former #1 overall high school recruit, was unsuccessful because of high expectations. We should expect these kids to do well, that's why we draft them that high.

As the Harvey Keitel character the Wolf said in Pulp Fiction, "Well, let's not start sucking each other's dicks quite yet." Locker looked good, maybe better than good. I watched the Cam Newton game on replay and Locker looked better than him to me. He obviously looked better than Ponder (he is really short), he looked better than Gabbert. But I did see some of the accuracy issues (a couple of high passes, is Cook a beast or what) that the draft talking heads kept ranting about. Nothing that I don't think can be worked out however. Mike Mayock, who I really think knows his stuff, says that it was mostly due to footwork, something that can be corrected. I am optimistic, but remember, we sat McNair for 2+ years, the pack sat Rodgers for what 4-5 years waiting on the farve soap opera to end.

What Deuce is saying here you are putting certain expectations for a quarterback in which he might not be able to obtain, but still have success. However since he didn't reach those expectations, he is considered a failure. In Vince's case, he was suppose to be the warrior of Steve McNair and numbers whore of Peyton Manning. Then you can't see the forest for the trees.

    Exactly.

As I said from the get-go. There was no way for Vince Young not to be overrated by Titans fans unless he could walk on water and raise the dead. That's how much he was hyped after 1 college game. The Texans game with the OT run only made things worse.

    So what happens?

The guy finally plays well... but it's still not what everyone hyped him up to be. So then, everyone overreacts and shuns the guy completely for being much better than I ever expected him to be.

Don't do that to Locker. The guy will most likely be an average QB. Nothing special. If he does end up special, great- but 1 botched snap leaving a WR wide open does not make him a hall of famer.

Vince Young came into the NFL running off that BCS Championship game. Jake Locker comes into the NFL running off what he's got to offer, MAJOR difference! He's dedicated 100% to becoming the best QB he can become, sadly that was not what Vince Young was about. Peyton dedicates himself entirely to football, as does Jake. Let titanfantilidie hope for the next great QB. Jake has shown evidence he can be really good.

After one game Locker is being to compared to Manning, he's being set up to fail because some have too high expectations of him.

That's whats so great about Locker, he cares 0% about what they say about him. He was doing poorly in one of the first few practices, but they were saying you'd never know, nothing bothers him, he keeps it moving.
