    Bulluck..

Mathis played at a school that was what division pee wee? He played FS there so he could make plays all over the field. He was a corner there before. Some scouts were not sure what his best position would be so at least for him there was doubt. Who doubted griffen as a safety?

We know griffen is a great safety. It's just not the same.

Heck... if we wanted an 'above average' CB we should have just traded down and grabbed one of the second or third rounder CBs.

Instead we drafted one hell of an FS however Fish doesn't have it in his heart to bench LT and decides to turn our 'excellent' FS into an 'above average' CB at best.

Bud... isn't it about time you talked some sense into Fish?

    How about those numbers?

Mathis defies the concept of a workout stud who can't play. 22 reps for a 200 lbs corner? 38 1/2 vertical? No wonder the guy is so good.

he's also one of the few tall corners who can turn and run without losing speed.

Little bit of info I learned trolling a Jags board. DoubeD as they call him use to frequent there site preaching his religion. Sound like he was actually banned.

It is an extremely long thread but in the first page or two they start to discuss his presence on the board. Kind of amusing.

    Donovin Darius CUT!!

What the heck are Jags thinking?

With the salary cap era and players constantly changing teams, we should be immune to surprise cuts.

But I'm still not over the shock of the Jaguars cutting Donovin Darius last week.

It was somewhere between curious and just plain foolish.

Darius defined everything that Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio looked for in a ball player. The veteran safety was a hard hitter and an extension of Del Rio on the field, a guy who terrorized ball carriers and receivers over the middle. Darius was the team leader on the field and most especially in the locker room. And he was entrenched in the community.

Cutting Darius was a move that nobody; no Jaguar player, no fan, no other league official, saw coming.

Yes, Darius is coming off of a broken leg, but he is on target to be ready for the start of the season.

How well respected is Darius? He's part of Roger Goodell's six-player NFL advisory council.

This was an odd decision by the Jags.

They are now without Darius and Deon Grant, who left via free agency to sign with Seattle. So Jacksonville loses two impact safeties that were an elite duo for so many years.

Sure, the club drafted Reggie Nelson in Round 1, is rightly high on Day 2 pick Josh Gattis, and feels Gerald Sensabaugh can step in play. But isn't this supposed to be a win-now team with the Jaguars?

Darius was due to make $3.5 million as his base salary this year, with a scheduled cap hit of over $3.6 million dollars.

I don't want to hear that Darius is injury prone. Before he blew out his knee in 2005, Darius was a rock. His hard work and grueling rehab got him all the way back in unpredictable fashion for the 2006 season. And he broke his leg on a very questionable hit from behind in the Jaguars' win over the Giants on Monday Night Football late last season.
