I've been a fan of ZoneAlarms security suite for the last 2-3 years but the Vista version has slowed my system down dramatically.

Can anyone recommend a good security setup for running on Vista.

I originally stopped using Norton with XP because it wasn't picking up Trojan spyware. I'm not confident that they'll have improved their product.

  3. Forget all those security suites.

The Windows firewall and a router are fine as far as a firewall. Just get a free anti-virus program (Avast or AVG) and free anti-spyware (Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware).

    Avast report.

I can't really knock this program since it's free ware but it doesn't suit my needs.

The free ware version can't be schedule to run a scan on a regular basis or on a specific file or drive. A scan has to run on the whole system which is frustrating.

I also doesn't work well with downloading.Unless you stop the software prior to a download it scans the files as they're coming in which throttles the download right down. Restarting it after a download has begun sidesteps this but then of course the whole system has to be scanned. With 3 drives this is a nightmare.

Nice little program unless your a down loader.

I'm moving on to a 30 day trial of NOD32.
