    The CPAP machine.

Hey Creepy, where's the picture of Skillet? He's my most fav character on Sanford and Son, right behind Rolo. Did you know that the guy who played Rolo was arrested and spent time in the pokey for burglary?:ha:

I tell patients all the time that worrying about "becoming dependent" on a non-narcotic medicine is just silly. If you aren't sleeping and have tried several non-medication routes, then you are having a problem. You get a prescription for a medication and start sleeping, you rest at night and all is well. What exactly is wrong with finding a solution to your current problem? It's not like Ambien, Benadryl, Lunesta, etc. is crack rocks!:irked: If I don't have anything going on the next day, I just stay up until I fall asleep. However, if I have something going on the next day, I will take a sleep aid to ensure that I get a good night's rest.

It's people like you that inhibit their relative's healing process. When I worked in rehab, I had to get Social Services involved with a couple who had a husband with your beliefs. This woman had knee replacement, was in pain and her husband was convincing her to forgo taking pain meds. This woman wasn't getting the benefits of rehab because she was in too much pain to even move. It was ridiculous. She was too tired to do anything because the pain was preventing her from having a restful sleep. It took all the willpower I had to keep from kicking him in his knee to damage it and see how he felt without pain meds. Luckiy, we got rid of him and his wife was able to get the pain medication she needed and had a successful rehab. Turns out, her husband had severe control issues and was emotionally abusive to her.

He's not saying it's an addiction he's saying people believe they will not be able to sleep without it, which I agree with.

It's the thought process that stuffs a person up, not that they can't sleep (unless they have genuine Insomnia), it's that they can't sleep without [insert medication], which is probably incorrect 90% of the time.

You provide a perfect example, you take a sleep aid to ensure a good nights rest. If you have something on tomorrow and you don't take a sleep aid do you think that you will not have a good sleep?
