I got a new job and when I put my 2 weeks in at my old job they just said screw it, don't show up anymore. So I decided to just drive to Nashville for the week. Basically what I'm asking is what are some cheap/free things to do in the city around this time. I already saw the food thread, so more of just things to occupy my time. Also if anyone would like to meet up for a drink, I'm totally down. I promise I'm not creepy.

TE has a dumpster you can crash in.

    Right next to his.

    I live in Alabama, sorry.

Broadway/Music Row, Centennial Park (The Parthenon - which does cost to tour inside), Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium, Bridgestone Arena.

Check out the new massive Convention Center on Demonbreun... Still haven't been in it myself. It's beastly.

Also check out Brentwood, Franklin (historic downtown Franklin), and Cool Springs... All basically within 20 minutes of downtown.

I'm leaving plenty out, so just google things to do in Nashville for other ideas.

Just walk around downtown. It's safe during the day... and pretty much safe at night except for a couple sketchy places like Printer's Alley.

And, of course, check out LP Field and Riverfront Park.

Meet up with TE at an Exxon... I'm in Knoxville, unfortunately.

First thing you'll need to know is the proper pronunciation of "Demonbreun".

Ask around before you get laughed at.

I've been to Nashville a million times, and just went through the Opryland Hotel for the first time this year. It is impressive to walk through, any time of year. I recommend you spend an hour or two in there, it's free. It's like a literal indoor jungle. You can easily get lost in there, it's so enormous. Good place to just walk around.

Park in the back of the Mall parking lot, and walk in, so you don't have to pay for parking.

    It's pretty cool.

I'd even say Printer's alley is safer than a lot of cities' downtowns at night.

Even though I still don't go down there..ever.

I never even really thought of Printer's Alley as being particularly dangerous. Or maybe I was just too drunk to care every time I was there.

Did you really just suggest Brentwood/Cool Springs to a visitor who specifically asked for "cheap/free" things to do? I guess you could walk around the mall and get free samples at the food court or something lol. Don't get me wrong, I love that area. It's no doubt one of the best places to shop and eat. But that's pretty much all it's good for, at least that I'm aware of. I'd never use "cheap" and "Brentwood/Cool Springs" in the same sentence.... at least without the word "not" being in the somewhere.

I guess it's worth checking out if he's going to be here a whole week. But if budget is limited you just aren't going to be able to actually do very much there.
