I wish that we are only a few pieces away from being close. I'm always hopeful so I'm just gonna keep on believing. I can only hope and pray that our FO has some sense of urgency for turning this thing around.

If Munchak has hopes of ever working beyond 2013 in the NFL, he'll show a sense of urgency and get us players.

If not, back to being a position coach forever.

Being the annoying optimistic that I am because I don't want to cry in bed and dreaming about Kenny Britt running from the cops while busting a few caps I would have to say we're pretty close.

-Add help on the OL (obviously going to do this)
-Bring in a good back up RB (not the biggest need but could be filled for pretty cheap)
-Sign/draft another WR (Wallace rumors are a good start)
    -Replace Cook (we'll see)

So if we do these 4 things our offense will be 10x better.

-More depth and a bigger DT on the DL (looking like they want to do this)
-Add quality depth at LB (plz do this Titans)
    -Replace Babs (done)
-Add another good CB (this will happen)

Do all this and we're going to be pretty freaking good on defense led by our great young core of LB's.

Boom Super Bowl, not really, Bud Adams salute.

The smartest thing CJ ever said is you win in the trenches and to build up the lines on both sides. Pretty much the slogan for what we need to do this offseason.

Don't want to be a debbie downer, but we're far far away.

This is the way I look at it...

    Defense keepers
    ATV
    Ayers
    McCarthy
    Brown
    Martin
    Klug
    Marks
    Wimbley
    Morgan
    Jason McC

    Offense
    Both tackles
    Cj
    Britt for now
    Wright
    Cook I hope

I like a lot of players we have at the moment. We just need depth and a few vets here and there

    Offense:
Interior OL sucks & both OTs are 30.
CJ has his ups and downs.
Locker is going into his 3rd year, hasn't shown anything proving he'll be a capable NFL QB.
Britt unreliable. Washington is average, #2 WR at best, getting older. KW had an OK rookie year, slightly disappointing for a 1st round pick.
Stevens is average, TT is a nobody, Cook is likely gone.

    Defense:
Wimbley was a no show last year and got paid. Unsure if he can play 43 DE, still have faith.
    Morgan improved a ton.
Casey/Martin had a solid year, potential there... enough to be difference makers? Possibly.
Safety play was terrible. Wilson is old, not a replacement, more of a fill-in. Griffin was one of the worst starting safeties in the league last year.
LBs: Ayers has gotten way better, ZB had a good rookie year & McCarthy can't stay healthy - zero depth.
CBs: McCourty is underrated, but is he a true #1 CB? Verner is a NB forced to play LCB. Little to no depth.

    Coaching staff:
    They all suck

We have zero pro-bowlers, barely any household names. A young team, defense shows potential.. but yet we were one of the worst defenses last year. Locker would have to become a difference maker. OL needs to turn from trash to treasure, allowing CJ to gain some consistency. Britt would have to show up and become a #1 WR. Defense, everyone needs to get better... need a run stopping DT that cna free up a DE. Ayers/ZB need to keep improving, tons of potential there. McCarthy must stay healthy. We need 2008 Michael Griffin back. Still need a true #2 CB. Replacement SS is needed, GW is a 2-year fill-in. All these things need to happen for us to be a contender.

just curious; who does the player selection and does Munchak have anything more than an opinion? I know some clubs take input from their coaches more than others and some go by their boards no matter what the position of need.

They don't tell us who does what on draft day.

I get the sense it's mostly Ruston Webster driven, but Munchak plays it off like he has a big influence.
