The media is making this Hurricane out to be worse than it is. It's mostly just heavy rains. Just cause NY is involved they want to make it the end of the world. it's just a tropical storm imo. The tornadoes in the south were far much worse this year.

Well Jesse, sorry the loss of 10 lives and significant damage and flooding just wasn't enough for you to consider it serious.

Let's all be thankful it wasn't worse...this wasn't a NASCAR race...you aren't supposed to be disappointed the wreck didn't happen.

Even though it was only a category 1 Hurricane when it hit DE it still made things very dangerous. It was an extremely large storm and moved pretty slow so that only magnified the danger. It was the first direct hit of DE by a hurricane in a long time and I believe it was the first ever direct hit of NYC. I'm not positive about the NYC fact though.

I was thinking the same thing as Jessie most of the week though. I've sat through an indirect hit from a category 2, and a direct his from a category 1. This was really a tropical storm by the time it hit. Not that it isn't a big deal, or that those in the North-East didn't need to be prepared, but much worse storms happen every single year. North Carolina got a lot worse, but the coverage is all on the north-east coast.

Yep not a big deal. Just 6 houses destroyed in my neighborhood and two kids seriously injured from a tree falling through their house. And that's just in my town in eastern NC. Not a big deal. Jesse GTFO

I work for a major Insurance Company and probably filed 1,000+ claims over the weekend due to Irene. Luckily I got some OT pay, can't wait for that paycheck lol
