Find someone who has been more influential in hip hop in the last decade. He's a musical genius.

808s is a classic. People like his early stuff but in twenty years it will be his albums like 808s and MBDTF that people will look back at and admire.

Yeah, that's great. If I wanted to listen to 52 minutes of autotune I'd buy a T-Pain album.

T-pain is the only auto tune I can listen to, everyone else just sounds like fakes

The best part about 808s was Kanye going on Conan's show and when Conan asked him "What do you have to say to people who say auto tune hides your inability to sing?" West said something to the effect of "auto tune heightens the imperfections in my voice, so it makes me concentrate on my singing, so it actually makes me a better singer."

    What a chode.

That is the problem with a lot of hip hop heads. They think freestyle battling = BEST RAPPER ALIVE. Who can beef with who. It's sh** like this that not only sets hip hop back, but also encourages rap music to dumb itself down.

Kanye may not be lyrically the greatest, but when it comes to production quality, beats, subject matter, themeing, and over all product as an art form; I don't know anyone who can compare. ESPECIALLY because his stuff goes main stream. What other rapper could get a way with a song like "Kanye's Work Plan" in 2004?

The same can be said for Lupe Fiasco. While everyone is gobbling up crap from artists talking about b**ches, rims, and guns Lupe acts like a modern day Shakespeare using subtly, clever/out of the box metaphors, and irony to put forth positive messages and unorthodox subject matter that is wrapped up in a way that the main stream can handle.

I agree. His subject matter is extremely dated. The fact that on his first single he took a jab at K-fed just made me shake my head. It's a good album but he needs to evolve. Lyrically, he can't be touched in my opinion.

They are different in their own ways, sure, but what they have done for main stream hip hop has been amazing imo.
