Sorry I didn't realize the SEC only consisted of Alabama, Florida and LSU. I could have sworn there were plenty of less than average teams in there but I guess not.

By judging a conference you have to look at the whole thing not just the top 3 teams and beyond Alabama, Florida and LSU (only certain years) I really don't see any team in the SEC that is anything special.

But don't let me stop you from stroking the SEC, carry on, continue to live through Alabama's success.

    BIG 10 National Champions since 1980: 2
    Ohio State 1
    Michigan 1

SEC National Champions since 1980: 9
    Florida 3
    LSU 2
    Alabama 2
    Tennessee 1
    Georgia 1

Oh and Alabama also had national titles in 1978 and 1979. And Auburn had two undefeated seasons during that period.

You using numbers from 30 years ago to support your weak argument is very satisfying to me. Thanks for playing.

First off let me state that I don't consider allthe posts in this thread fiction. That being said I don't think I can reply to all the sentiment related here since I am not in grade school.

Anyone else remember when Louisville beat Alabama on Jan 1st 1991 for the Fiesta Bowl? Louisville 34 Alabama 7. That was the very first football game I ever remember watching.

Years since (conference) won a national championship:

    SEC: 0
    Big 12: 5
    Pac 10: 6
    Big 10: 8
    Big East: 9
    ACC: 11

SEC National Champions since last Big 10 National Champion: 5 (not included an undefeated Auburn team)

And unlike the SEC, Big12, and ACC... the Big 10 won't even add one team to have a conference championship game. Cowards.

I guess you don't pay attention to college football news of any kind.

People, it's not about who has more national championships over the past 30 years or even 10. What were talking about is this year. The fact that you SEC homers go run to the history books to fight your argument for you doesn't mean anything. Nobody is talking about history, we were talking about THIS YEAR. And THIS YEAR the SEC is highly overrated and the bowl season showed that the Big 10 is underrated. Other than Alabama who beat Texas without their QB and Florida who beat a phony Cincinnati team who else in the SEC is all that impressive? Ole Miss fizzled out real quick, Penn State beat LSU, Tennessee got dominated by VT and one of your teams won a bowl game because the other teams kicker couldn't kick a simple field goal. Meanwhile OSU and Iowa win their BCS games and Wisconsin beats the U who everyone kept saying is back. That's the point, not who had the best team in 1982 or whatever ridiculous point Alex is trying to prove.

I think the past four years in a row is pretty relevant, and it includes this year.

Alabama went undefeated and won the National Championship. That's impressive.

Overrated and underrated are incredibly overused terms on this site, especially since they're completely relative to your own perception of your views and other's views of a particular team or conference.
