They restuctured a bunch of deals, and got 4.4 million back from Lavar Arrington.

True, but damn, if they can't be successful next year, they might as well give up. Heck, I'm scared to play them with all those additions...

Anyone who signs with the Redskins are getting tricked. Their "bonus" money is stretched throughout the life of the contract. A $7 million signing bonus counts $1 million a year over 7 years. It's been described as "credit card" money.

THIS is why players are so adamant about signing bonuses and their contracts. Steve McNair is a perfect example. Almost from the first year, he's been asked to sacrifice and restructure his contract. Now, after all these years, it's time for his big payday and the Titans don't want to ante up. Back when he was restructuring the contract, he was worth the $50 million payday. Of course he's not the player he once was, what with all the playing with injuries, running and taking hits that McNair has endured.

However, McNair EARNED that money over the years he's spent with the Titans. NFL contracts are smoke screens, nay, fool's gold. Javon Walker tried to take a stand and get his contract and money right. Then he gets an injury and is on the chopping block.

Again what part of converting NON-Guranteed money to GURANTEED money should be considered a scarafice?

The bulk of McMVPs current 24m CAP hit is 13m in bonus money he has all ready put in his personal bank account. McNair did not SACRAFICE anything when he restructured.

If McNair believed he was getting a 50m bonus - well I just believe he is smarter than that.

The question isn't how can they keep doing this, it is how can they keep doing this so unsuccessfully. Snyder keeps handing out the cash and selling out the franchise, but has little to show for it. One thing that helps I quess is that all these players he signs for big money end up not working out and they are let go, thus freeing up money maybe. But the dead money has to be pretty scary.
