Houston receives franchise tag, Suh does not

The Patriots use their safeties interchangeably at times, as most teams do, but McCourty was the clear FS and Chung the clear SS.

McCourty will be signed to play FS. No one's giving big money to a SS.

 

I just read that the Chiefs gave Houston the Non-Exclusive Tag which means somebody can make an offer to him. Hope is still alive for those who want him.

Uh, Griffin & McCourty both play free safety and Polamalu plays SS. Griffin is one of the worst safeties in the league, both in coverage and tackling. He should not be on this team next year, bottom line. McCourty playing centerfield and Polamalu in the box would be 10x better (and cheaper) than McCourty and Griffin on the field together.
