The reason they didn't draft vince is because they had trust in david carr. They were regretting that pick the whole 2006 season. I agree now with schaub (although he hasn't proven to be a winner) they are a lot happier with the pick than last year. The only reason they could regret it is vince is 3-0 as a starter against them and vince's worst record as a qb is the same as the texans best in their franchise history.

We tried to trade back, but couldnt without the risk of losing out on Mario or Reggie. The Texans were not going to accept that. It was strategy, and felt comfortable taking a monster DE with the pick... a priority position in the NFL. I was one of the few that defended it after rationalizing over it shortly after the draft. Much like with the latest pick of Brown, and like you guys with your pick of Johnson. Who cares what the fans think... the point is.. THE TEXANS ORGANIZATION were the ones who made the pick for certain reasons that seem to be paying off like they expected. What really matters outside of what they think??? As its their job to improve the team via the draft and give us the best chance to win. This new regime has taken us from a horrid 2-14 mess to a competitive team at 8-8 in a pretty short time. Hard to argue with them.

In regards to the O-line, it got DRAMATICALLY better the day David Carr left. Its the reputation of old that rival fans still hang on to... when really the O-line last year was average (actually ranked 10th in the link below just behind you guys), and should definitely improve with our new left tackle, center, and added depth from getting healthy,etc.... and definitely the addition of Alex Gibbs should improve our O-line greatly despite what you think... in the running and passing game.

Doesnt matter. One could also debate that if Vince was replaced with a better passing QB today, coupled with your current top running game... the Titans could be a better overall team as well. Definitely debatable.

I'm rapidly giving up draft analysis. No matter how level headed I try to be,sometimes it's hard not to be an armchair critic. If a team wants a player for a specific reason I see no problem in taking him when the so called experts say they shouldn't.

The year we took Pacman we tried to trade down & nobody bit. The financial hit of a pick in the top 6 doesn't encourage a lot of trades, this year excepted.

Gibbs is arguably your best off season move but I was still shocked that you only drafted one O lineman. Until you turn out a solid O line it's going to be smack bait.

We only really needed to draft one. We traded for our starting center before the draft. RT and LG are firmly set with Pitts and Winston. Now LT is set as Salaam will groom Brown until he is ready, then provide depth. RG is the only wild card left, as Charles Spencer can possibly challenge for the starting spot there as he was huge before he got hurt. If he doesnt, Mike Brisiel played extremely well down the stretch last year at that position. We have drafted 5 Olinemen in the past 3 drafts now. Our line should be pretty much set now for a while.

You might as well give up. Titan fans are some of the biggest blind homer fans on the planet.

You can point out that our O-line improved last year and actually gave up fewer Sacks than theirs did and the only come back will be "Well your O-line still sucks". You can point out that we brought in Gibbs, picked up a starting center and drafted a hopeful left tackle and it will be "well your O-line still sucks. You can point out how many sacks Mario had and how many INTs Vince had and it will be "Mario is a bust and wasted pick" All the while I see you pointing out the fact we have been bad and that you don't expect the playoffs but think we have a CHANCE at the playoffs and the they will call YOU the homer just because you think your team improved. But at the same time the Titans are hoping that they got it right this time after drafting a RB high the last three years. Some Titan fans have even said that their best offseason move was bringing back their old OC but at the same time saying Gibbs will have no effect. (I myself think Herm. will help Vinny) They picked up a WR in the 3rd in last years draft that never left the bench, complain about how many balls that their WRs drop, then justify not drafting a WR till the 4th round and then say he will be the man.

You can point out that you are concerned about the Texans running game and you are a homer.

You can point out that you aren't sure about Schaub and you are a homer.

If you don't thrash every aspect of the Texans from the owner to the mascot you are a homer. You have the problem, not them. Now you can expect for someone who still doesn't get it to tell me to go to a Texan board if I don't like it.

Actually almost everyone on here complains about something. There's also not a lot of us on here who believe we are built to win a super bowl. Hopefully they prove us wrong but I'm sure most of us don't expect a super bowl this next year. My experience with texans fans (I've lived in houston most of my life) is every year they think they're going to make the playoffs. And now that they've had an 8-8 season they think it's time to compete for the super bowl somehow. Most of us just get on the texans fans when they come on here and talk about how they're better than the titans and how vince young is terrible.

Hey Overalls if you don't like it here why don't you clear off to a Texans board?:))

Seriously this is the smack forum & meant to be taken with a pinch of salt.Texxan has surprised me though by actually having a serious conversation instead of replying with nothing but Vince sucks which does get old really fast.

It might not suck having Mario. But I guarantee you there will be about 5 other guys from that draft class that you guys wish you had instead.
