I like Verner, alot. But he wasn't a stud his first couple years, heck he almost lost his starting spot this year. Obviously that was poor coaching, not sure what they were thinking. He's been good, not great until this year. He wasn't even near pro-bowl level in his prior years. He took a big step forward this year vs last year.

I saw huge growth from him in 2012. Until then he was always a guy brought in only in nickle situations, but 2012 he proved he could be a full-time CB.

he's posted 2 good years together, but not $11M good.

I want us to extend him, the track record is there, he's not a 1-year wonder, he's been ding this for some time now.

I want to give him something similar to what we gave McCourty. Say like 5-years $30M

I agree, 5/30 would be perfect.

I'd be sold on 5/30, even 5/35 honestly. But as much as I want to keep him, Franchise tagging him at $11M would be a mistake. I do hope we sign him and Pollard though.

Also pumped about signing Horton. Thanks JCB, that draft story was cool to watch, the dude is well spoken and seems quite intelligent.

I like McCourty, he is one of the better tackling corners in the league, and he covers his man pretty well.

My only grip with him is it doesn't seem like he ever tries to make a play on the ball, just face guards people the entire time.

Verner on the other hand has a knack for locating the ball and making a play on it.

But that same aggressive nature burned him the 2nd half of the year, those deflections started getting called pass interference, so how good is he.....

I think he's great, going to miss him if he walks, but thats the reason McCourty plays it safe, doesn't want to negate a big play with a yellow flag and free yards.

Burden of proof lies with the prosecutor so...

Tell me why he will? Because he is a corner and played for the Titans?

undersized, slow, sloppy, but has a knack to make a play every now and then. They seem pretty identical to me. They both had great physicality and a knack to sniff out the ball.

I'd love to resign him, but not if we have to break the bank. After seeing what has happened to guys like Finnegan and Griffin, I would just be very cautious about paying big bucks to a guy who has played well, but with a lot of questionmarks.
