    Freddie lost me after about 40 mins into the first movie. Went from being a frightening dream demon to the punchline guy that mostly spouts off one liners..

    Did you know that the year Elm Street came out - a few months earlier there was another film character (played by the great David Patrick Kelly) that had finger knives and killed people in their dreams?

    Coincidence, but at the time there was an element of "didn't I just see this?"
    Dreamscape of course went on to be mostly forgotten - but I did always think DPK was the more skeevy dream derelict..
