Help me pick a major for my bachelor's!!!

    Very good advice....the undergrad is just the start. From there the most important ability I have found you need to have is the ability to be flexible, and to be continually improving your value to your employer/other employers. Six Sigma and other certifications are important.

    Also, someone previously mentioned alternative energy. I work in alternative energy right now, and there is some demand. I would broaden that suggestion, however, to be more in line with domestic energy. I am longer in the tooth than most on this forum, but I think that the domestic energy sector has as much long term promise for someone getting out of school as the high tech and healthcare fields. Also, the needs in the energy field span well beyond technical...including finance/accounting, legal, public relations, and business in general.

    Finally, as someone who started working back in the days when the "30 year company man up until retirement/pension" was beginning to be phased out, I always like to repeat a line that a very wise man told me over beers when I was 25 years old.....Always be as loyal to your company as they would be to you.
