Titans offensive coordinator Chris Palmer admits Hasselbeck has been “struggling” to learn new offense, but he continues to make strides. Hasselbeck will make $9 million this year, so he will be given time to adjust. It’s not like Jake Locker is in better shape learning a new offense

Titans coach Mike Munchak said he’ll remove Hasselbeck early in every preseason game so that Locker can get some experience working with first-stringers.

“I think the plan is to have him work with the ones each week probably,” Munchak said. “We will probably take Matt out sooner, and leave him in there with the first group.”

Titans offensive coordinator Chris Palmer says Hasselbeck has been “struggling” to learn the offense, but he sounded impressed with what he’s seen of Locker.

“He’s exactly what we thought he was,” Palmer said of Locker. “He’s a student of the game. He works hard. He wants to get better. You tell him that this needs to be corrected, and he works to correct it.”

The way Palmer is talking about both quarterbacks, it may not be long before Locker replaces Hasselbeck in a regular-season game.

You try to learn a whole new language in 2 weeks, that's basically what he's trying to do.

Looks to me like the coaches could be a bit more patient.Seems like they are trying to say Jake is picking up on all the offense quicker than Matt is but they still need to realize that they just can't throw Jake out there too early even if he is a quick study.

This is no surprise. I fully expected Locker to look better. He's considerably more talented than Hasselbeck. That does not however mean that Jake would perform better in a regular season NFL game now. Matt will come along and be ready to play Sept. 11th. Not concerned at all by this news.

No surprise considering he's only been with the team for less than a week practising and less than 2 in total.

    This hasn't been a usual off-season.

Rusty Smith has more playing time as a Titan than Hasselbeck and Locker combined.
