Fisher gets plenty of blame for the 0-6 start. Nobody is saying that he doesn't deserve blame. Also, I don't think anyone can really justify the first six games. We had an ugly, ugly start this season, and blame for that goes on Fisher and anyone below him, from assistant coaches to the players.

What I think it silly is when people say that it's his fault "because he didn't change the QB for the first 6 games!" The first three games of the season were all very close games that we could have won if one of several things in each game had gone differently. At that point, there really wasn't a good reason to panic. (I understand that many posters feel differently, but I don't think this is in any way a foregone conclusion. It wasn't at the time, it just got proved in hindsight, like so many things.) Then we came out and looked terrible in the Jags game, that was when we should have started panicking. The problem there is that we're up against the Colts and Pats, which really isn't a good time to throw Vince into the fire when we need to be careful with the ball to have any hope of winning. Then again, I don't think that putting Vince in would have been enough to win either of those two games. If you do, please feel free to argue how.

As I said above, Fisher and everyone else share the blame for that blowout. I can't make myself watch the Pats game a third time, it was too ugly in all areas. It was so ugly, in fact, that I think it's VERY easy to conclude that starting Vince at QB would have gotten us even close to winning it.

When did i say that? Have you understood anything from my last 2 posts?

I said that NOBODY on this message board said that chuck cecil was not qualified for the job when he was hired. Now all of a sudden jeff fisher is a moron for making that hire? And this is said AFTER we know fisher made an attempt to get Greg Williams.

I never said that people can't comment on anything just that they should have complained back then of they thought Cecil was not capable.

How would anybody judge a coordinator based on one season? One season sans AH and with injuries. And i am the only person who thinks Marcus Robertson should get some blame since he replaced Cecil as the coach over the whole secondary that often seemed lost this year?

Am i the only one here who sees something wrong with that comment? A guy doesn't take a job that pays a million+ a year because a family member didn't get a job also and then he turns around and whines about nepotism? WTF?

I've never coached football in my life. I bet most posters here have not either.

I was excited when he hired Cecil because he was an aggressive player (honestly he was dirty).

After watching the defense this past season, I realize I shouldn't have been excited. I should've been furious over the hire.

But I guess to you, I shouldn't make those comments because I didn't post negativity about Cecil a year ago.

By that same token, how can anyone criticize Fisher? (RollTide whining impression) Hindsight is 20/20, why weren't you complaining when the team made the hire?

Since this message board didn't exist in 1993, no one should complain about Fisher. Yeah, you complain now that you've seen the results, but were where you before the hire complaining about Fisher?? Huh? HUH?

This is your brain on drugs! I never f::grrr::grrr::grrr::grrr:ng said that! Stop saying that!

You just admitted you thought Cecil was a good hire at the time. That means you felt he was qualified based on his background and experience. You have every right to post your disappointment in how Cecil has done his job but you can't say cecil was an unqualified hire!

That's what some are implying or saying that fisher pulled Cecil out of his arse after Williams turned us down. He did not.

And how in the hell do you judge a coordinator on one year? Especially a year sans AH, with injuries and some players getting old?

I myself didn't have much of an issue at the time of the hiring, but how could you? Cecil or should I say "Scud" had done nothing to worry anyone. But there lays the problem. As a player he was considered a Pro Bowler, but as a coach what has he done? NOT A DAMN THING. Fisher thought continuity was important, but we weren't that same team to be able to keep 2008 going. Maybe if we fielded the same 11 guys on defense then perhaps Cecil could cover someone with our secondary. Or hell, even getting after them would do, but letting them walk past you is more than the players fault. Coming into this year and now exiting it, I have no faith in Cecil's abilities as a coordinator. I'm one for 2nd chances, but really this guy better figure it out soon or its off with his head I say. And maybe the only reason Cecil even got the publicity he did was because he played illegally. Wearing added padding inside his helmet to be able to knock people out is something any bumb can do. Doesn't take an NFL player to put on a thick helmet to endure the lethal blows they deliver. Subtract his nasty demeanor and whats left? A frustrated 8-8 team.

It's hard to say. Maybe you are onto something with Marcus Robertson, someone I was more hyped about than Cecil. I understand the D-line not being as strong, but Griffin and Hope seemed considerably worse.

I'm sorry to say this, but I question Hope as a longterm starter after the injury. I just don't think he is the same player. It's one of the reasons I'd go insane if Eric Berry became a Titan, and yes I know it's never going to happen because we wouldn't trade up to get him.

I hardly blame Cecil that much because, imo, it's Fishers defense that is the problem. Total reliance on the D-line with no backup plan or adjustment when that is not the strong point of the defense. At least that is the simplest way I see it.

That said, I thought Cecil would be part of a SOLUTION. He wasn't. He did considerably worse.

And as negative as I am about our coaches, Fisher isn't THAT bad, I really do think we are a legit Superbowl contender in 2010. 20 other teams and us, at least. I think the league is that varied. We have a harder chance than some, but it is easily possible.

    Well...

Didn't we have 3 players play at Pro Bowl level before this season? Didn't Cecil coach the secondary?

We fielded 10 of the 11 previous starters. The problem is...some guys got worse. If the DL fails, it causes huge problems. And it's not like you can just 'add' another 10 sack DE at will and our corners are better zone players limiting your options.

They need to alter personel, scheme, or both.

We had Kearse who contributed to our good defense in 08 who was basically a no show all year.

    Harper only got older.

KVB who played fairly well but only got 3 sacks.

Thornton was hurt most of the year and not very effective when he did play. This is a guy who had giant tackle numbers for many years and had over 100 in 06 and 07 but has declined since.

Jason Jones who looks like a pro bowl type guy only played 7 games. He had the same number of sacks in those 7 games that AH had for the skins but with AH gone we needed Jones for more games than that.

Jovan haye's mediocre play. Maybe in his 2nd season in the system he will be better.

And of course the injuries especially to finny who was replaced by a guy not half as good.

The personnel decisions by MR and fisher to not sign either King or Carr that left us with depth issues @ CB but nobody can blame Cecil for that.
