I'd suggest not even bothering with the cardio calorie tracking on any app. It just estimates a general vigorousness in which you're working. You're idea of "moderately" active could be entirely different than the person who made the app.

Measure your food. Stay within your calorie goal. Do workouts that you think are fun, so you're more likely to continue doing them. Lose weight.

Jogging a mile in the morning is a good start, but in reality that's like ten minutes of activity. You're better off briskly walking every day for 30 minutes than jogging for ten. Take stairs instead of the escalator/elevator at the mall or office. Don't search five minutes for a parking spot that's closer, just weeble-wobble your fat ass the extra 30 feet to the building. That **** adds up over the course of a month.

Escalators are fine for old people and women with strollers. Men take the ****ing stairs.

That's really all it is. When I went to school I moved from a rural area to an urban area. Things were within walking distance; grocery store, restaurants, campus was across the street. I stopped eating the crap my parents bought and walked everywhere. Everywhere. Within two years I went from 180 to 155 with minimal effort.

Since June 1st, I have lifted 5 days a week and run 4 days a week(2 miles and sprints). 4 out of 7 days I do 2 a day workouts. Whey protein shakes, salad with oil and vinegar, lean meats (no fried, beef, or pork), eggs, brown rice, and veggies were the main foods in my diet (although I do eat pizza and tacos once a week). I have gone from 282 to 254 (on a 6'5 frame), from 40 inch waist to 36", and down to 8% body fat. Factor in that I just turned 41 a month ago, you young bucks should have no problem getting fit.
Basically, I stopped eating late at night (when the 11 pm Sportcenter would come on), stop drinking (esp. mixed drinks), ignore munchie cravings, and hit the gym.
