That is the ONLY reason why I would want him here.
Marketing won't be an issue his first two years. You don't draft a guy to bring in fans, you draft a guy to win games. Tennessee 'fans' cling to anything that gets us a few minutes of attention and it causes that person to stick around far too long.
Vince Young was great for marketing. Look at how that worked out. I would rather my team be good than be popular.
Pretty much the only reason why I would want him.
Sorry to derail thread for a moment, back to whatever was being talked about.
How dare you derail a GoTitans thread with talk about the Titans
That was a decade and a half ago.
We had that excitement through the early 2000's and it dropped off a bit before Pacman and VY.
Fan passion and media attention plummeted after VY.
We got a bit back in Fisher's last push but it has been dead for 4 years now with no turn around in sight.
The Jaguars are historically worse and have been AWFUL for years.
Yet you see this excitement in Jax. You see these fan groups popping up. You see the franchise investing in the fans.
IMAGINE the Titans doing anything like this.
So let me get this strait. We want to emulate Jags fans?
They are changing for the better.
I have friends and family down there. They are excited.
Better than our fan's policy of sitting on our hands.
I do my part by randomly yelling "TEBOW!!" at the games I've attended as of late.
Winning games makes you popular, no matter who is playing for the team. Fans want to follow a winning team. Winning teams get all the best prime time games, the star players get all the Ads so they are seen more outside of football thus causing the team to get mentioned more.
As a few have said, popularity only lasts so long, if Manziel sucks (which i personally believe he will), then you do nothing after the 'Shock and Aww' period has worn off.
I am all for getting more Titans fans at home games but if we can draft the RIGHT players to help the team win games, it will do WAY more over the long run then drafting a big name who sucks.
Separate names with a comma.
