Phil is correct and he should know, he was a hard worker. I'm not a big Tom Brady fan, but I do respect his work ethic. QB's that want to be the best work hard at it. They're the first to the practice facility and the last to leave. Watch Brady on the sideline this weekend, always mulling over photos especially if the game isn't going his way. Always communicating with the players around him. Always trying to get the line fired up.

There is so much more to being the QB than passing and handing the ball off; it's called intangibles and Vince does not possess them yet.

I do think he needs a strong mentor and I believe Heimerdinger can provide that.

What makes Hoge such an idiot for saying all of this is:
    He is strictly speculating.
I mean He doesn't know if Vince will be Terrible in the NFL or the Greatest QB in history. It's just WAY too early to know anything.
Vince could go either way. He had a pretty damn good first season made the probowl. He played AS good or better than ELI did his second year.
Plenty of people on here speculate about Vince both ways but that's perfectly ok. This is a discussion. We're not on TV getting paid big bucks to make analysis.
TO Hoge: Even if you're right you're still an idiot for going on TV and saying all of this crap and there's just no way you can know yet.

Not only that but I think offensive line play was not as good as it was last year. The running game was not as good as last year. Henry got 1211 yards on 270 carries last year. White this year got 1110 on 303 carries. White doesn't break big runs, Henry did. Not comparing running backs here, just saying that 3.7 yards a carry sucks. With the Titans' O often running on the first two downs, it puts all the pressure on Young to deliver with his arm, when we all know his legs are his bread and butter. Hopefully Heimerdinger gets more creative on first and second down and call for more play involving Vince running the ball. It's the key. Vince will never be a classic pocket passer. He needs to run for 500+ yards to be sucessful.

I did not see him appearing get any better as this season went on. Now, in VY's defense, I have to question if the WRs we had were learning the offense and progressing any better, but it did not appear that VY looked to be getting any more comfortable in the offense as the year went on. Again, may not be all VY...could have been Chow's playcalling and surrounding cast. But when your center is indicating times when VY did not know the right calls then I do blame VY for that. Don't care if he is 2nd year...he should be stepping on the field with better knowledge than that.

It seemed pretty clear that VY was going to be starting very quickly. Jettisoning Volek and bringing in Collins never appeared to me to be a plan to allow him to learn behind someone. If we had kept McNair I would have thought maybe so.

Agree...that was a good thing. However its a big difference to get together and play catch versus living with the playbook until you know the plays backward and forward when called in game situations. Again, several times when he made throws and it clearly looked like the receiver and he were on a different page, I can't say it was VYs fault or the WR, but there were times when you could see Vince standing there looking like he didn't know what just happened and I never saw him getting on the WR like they had made the wrong cut or something.

I am hoping Dinger comes back in here and get them ALL in line. As many have stated who played with him, he does not like inprecision and won't tolerate it. It may be the exact thing that the young WRs and VY need to get them to the next level. That and a veteran WR with some playmaking ability.

I'm less mad at Hoge at this point, because he doesn't seem as far off as he did a year ago. Vince has a long way to go, and he needs to take a significant step next year. We lost the playoff game because we had no passing offense. A 50% completion rate and an INT won't get it done. I think this is a turning point in his career, and we'll see next year which way he's going to go.

You should see the abuse he gets in the comments if you look at the vince vs Hoge videos on youtube. It looks like quite a few fans from this forum have probably contributed.

I think the most interesting thing about this forum is you guys are talking like ya'll know exactly what vince is doing every second of his life. I mean what, do all you guys really think when he goes home he just totally forgets about football and doesn't do any work there? I mean he's obviously not out hanging with some of his other teammates that you always see in the news. The coaches have typically only had praise for vince's work ethic so I don't understand how fans get on here and bash it. Now obviously if you DO know what vince does all day every day then you can speak and people should listen.

    Which is worse.

Vince is putting in extra time and not getting it.

    or

Vince needs to put in extra time and get serious.
