I would say that hoge's comments are about half as bad as his own teamate kevin mawae, who all but said that vince is mentally inadequate. Why are we not bashing mawae?

When Mawae harps on about it for 2 years maybe we will.

Oh what a Teammate Kevin is. I didn't think he would even say that on a local radio station here in Nashville. If VY did make mistakes why didn't Kevin the 14 year veteran go out and help VY. I didn't see where he said he helped VY in anyway. You don't see VY throwing Kevin under the bus after those fumble snaps that costs some games and those blown calls on 4 and short that Kevin called. Kevin Mawae needs to go. Get rid of this guy, I wouldn't want him on my team.

I hope his breaks give out going down a really steep icy hill headed towards an intersection busy with tractor trailers.

You gotta be kidding right?? Everybody tippy toes around this like "Oh No..don't let any criticism get near Vince..." Sorry but Vince can fix this himself by getting in a film room and not coming out until he knows this offense better than anyone else on the team.

Phil Simms said on Rome the other day that one thing he learned from Parcells was that the QB is the leader of the team and as the leader of the team he should be seen as working harder than anyone else on the team.

I thought Mawae was spot on when he was talking on the radio and making these comments.

I don't know if I'm really understanding this. VY has just finished his second year. He is suppose to know every play, every personel change, and be able to determine what has been called in and if incorrect change it as he sees fit? Hell, there is very few QB's that have that latitude, let alone a 2nd year QB. Don't get me wrong he he has much room for improvement but lets be realistic.

Yes, he needs to be a student of the game. Yes, he needs a better grasp of the offense. But, really how many of you expected to even see him playing on a regular basis when he was drafted within the first two years? I know I wasn't. He was called a project with tremendous upside. I was looking minimum of 3-4 years.( I also felt that we would have McNair, if not Volek at the time to let him sit and learn, for what thats worth.)

Working harder than anyone else on the team? I think he has taken the right path in that regard. Last year he took it upon himself to foot the bill to bring the receivers to Houston to workout. When it comes to his teammates VY is extremely positive in what he says. I also believe he was one of the first to get to camp. Everything Coach Fisher has said to this point makes me believe that VY will be returning soon to camp to pick up where he left off.

Fisher on how he expects Young to react to the coaching change)

This is Vince’s world right now. The season was over and he was going to get away, rest and recover, and come back as soon as he could to start working on next year. I think he’ll be very, very excited to meet Mike and to sit down and start working with Mike.

on his expectations for Vince Young’s offseason)

Oh, he’ll be here. He likes being here. He’ll be here and throw with the receivers. He needs to get away just like the rest of them. But he’ll be here and he’ll be ready to go. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s here early.

Before you point out the psychology of those statements I'm well aware of the intent.
