Like I said. I'm talking image. Tiger woods doesn't sell buicks. Old people don't buy buicks because of Tiger Woods. Nobody does. Nike Golf? Is that even very popular among anyone but golfers?
By marketable, I don't mean they have companies just drop contracts in front of them because they're good. I mean they themselves sell the product. Like Jordan did with shoes, and even gatorade. Like Kobe did with sprite. People will buy their shoes because of them. You think kids across america would spend 200 dollars on a pair of Tiger Woods shoes? lol

Is Nike Golf popular to anyone but golfers? That doesnt even make sense. If someone isnt interested golf, why would they be interested in golfing equipment? Are Kobe or Lebron's shoes popular among people who dont wear basketball shoes? Of course not. And please dont try to argue that Kobe or any current NBA players have done more to draw people to the NBA, than Tiger has done to draw people to golf.

Let's forget for a moment how you ignored the proof that Tiger Woods is marketable, lets focus on you saying business corporations with guys who went to college, smart minds, just hand out money to a guy who isn't bringing in any more customers. Meanwhile a self indulgent egomanic sits on a forum and tells us Tiger Woods isn't marketable and he is right.

And then there is the evidence that proves you wrong (yet again)

    Reality is calling.

Again, do you really think people buy Buicks because of Tiger? How about Gillete Razors?
His products are the type that just sign people because they're popular. Not because they're marketable.

Do you have any idea what the word marketable even means?

Do you honestly believe that there is any company (let alone a multi-billion dollar company like Proctor & Gamble, which owns Gillette) that just signs athletes for the hell of it? You have to be kidding.

Clearly they did their research and determined that Tiger Woods would increase their sales (in fact, they would have determined that he would increase sales by more than the X million dollars that they paid him, ensuring that the deal is profitable for Gillette).

Tiger Woods is the most marketable athlete in the world today. Every marketing expert sees that. Everyone on this board other than you seems to see that. I can't believe you are sticking to your guns on this one. You. Are. Wrong.

I used to read your posts and actually take the time to think about whether you were right. Now I'm going to just dismiss everything that you say. You have no credibility.

if nothing else the posts are a bit of comic relief. Tiger Woods has THE most popular line of golf gear on the planet. That alone makes him marketable. You might not buy a buick just to spite him, but the image of associating tiger with the brand is what drives the sales, which is somewhat related to the term "Marketable"

The most popular golf gear doesn't sell a fraction of the most popular basketball shoe.

It would if golfers suddenly take up rapping.

I recently built some sets for an event commissioned by a very popular athletic shoe company. I found a program sheet from their sales symposium documenting which markets they were going after and how. One of those markets was listed simply as "urban"...for anyone unclear on what that meant, the accompanying photo showed three hooded back men on a street corner throwin' signs.

Yep. The Man is cashing on on hatred for The Man. Works every time.

Im sure you have stats to back that up right? In terms of units you are probably right, since golf equipment is so much more expensive. If you have stats that prove that in terms of profits, Id like to see those stats. Fortune magazine says Tiger made $100 million last year in endorsements alone. Number 2 was Phil Mickelson with $47 million. Lebron was 3rd, at $25 million and Kobe was 6th with $16 million. Michelle Wie made more in endorsements than Kobe. If you believe what you are saying is true, you need to try and get a job with these advertising companies who find Tiger 4 times more marketable than Lebron, and Mickelson almost twice as marketable. Id imagine if you could prove to them you were correct, you would make a nice little income and be set for life since obviously they are way over spending on golfers.
