    I'm just going cold turkey as always. I bought about 8 packs of chewing gum (not exaggeration). They say the first three days are the hardest, but I dunno if that's true; I usually relapse much later.

    For me, I had to stop going out to parties or being around smokers for a week or so. After that, it was like a challenge to go around both of those to see if I was done with it. Try looking at it like you would any other challenge. Make it personal. Get pissed at yourself for getting the urge. RUN, WORKOUT, Hit something, whatever it takes man.

    Quick edit --- I DO NOT lecture my friends who smoke at all. Unless it is a hot chick...LOL......

    My father quit smoking well over 30 years ago and hadn't smoked a day since. Today he is in his 70's and is suffering from COPD which will likely be the eventual thing that takes him (although hopefully not for a long while). The doctors said it was because he smoked in his youth. Thank God I never started.

    I've been working out 2-3 times a day now to distance myself from smoking, using the natural high from that to distance myself. That's always helped me.

    Drinking will be my biggest challenge, as that's when cigarettes like to be paired with the most.

    I am a BIG boy, so I decided to start eating right and work out (although not really sure what I'm doing)....I'm still waiting for that "high"

    I quit on Valentines day. That means I have been smoke free for 62 days..

    62 days can be converted to one of these units:

    * 5,356,800 seconds
    * 89,280 minutes
    * 1488 hours
    * 8 weeks (rounded down)

    I started smoking when I was 18 and quit at age 22. I bought the gum from Target and it worked for me. I was chewing 8-9 pieces a day but I could literally feel the nicotine buzz and it gave me a calm feeling like I had just smoked a cigarette and I had toothpicks on my desk to chew on. One friday, the nasty @ss gum got to me and i said time to quit the gum. I was literally addicted to the gum. I went thru withdrawls from the gum, so I just got some dentine and orbit and now im doing just fine. From time to time i still get cigarette cravings, so I go to the water fountain and fill up my water bottle and guzzle the crap out of it and it usually leaves me feeling satisfied.

    I also started going to the courts and shootin hoops everyday. Couple that with a nice shower afterwards and its a great feeling that I've become addicted too.. Also, I've gotten a little bit of my game back from when i was in high school.

    if anyone needs moral support while quitting please let me know and I'll definitely give you my insight. Good luck fellas.

    Before I quit i thoroughly researched every option, even the E-cigarette.

    The reason I didn't go with Chantix is because of the cost and the potential psychological side effects. I'm not a big fan of prescription medicines.

    well it was a very stupid choice. makes me wonder what other choices you will make during your life. Next time dont find things out the hard way, ask someone who has been through it and take what they have leaned and listen to it.
