He’s got a good first name when it comes to leading his people, but Titans linebacker Moise (pronounced Moses) Fokou is still learning that role for his new team.

It’s not just the fact that Fokou is in his first season with the Titans, but more that this is the first year he’s played middle linebacker. In Fokou’s previous four NFL seasons, he’d been primarily an outside linebacker in “4-3” defenses or an inside linebacker in “3-4” defenses.

So he’s had to adjust to handling the responsibilities that come with playing middle linebacker.

“The big thing is we’re asking him to come in and do some things he’s never done – lead the linebacker crew and call the huddle, which is different, and now you gotta’ be the leader,” Titans defensive coordinator Jerry Gray said of Fokou.

“They’re looking at you. If you’re unsettled, they’re gonna’ be unsettled. You gotta’ be the cornerstone. They gotta’ look at you being confident, and if you’re confident, then everyone else is. So you’ll get a chance to see him grow up in that leadership area.”

The 28 year-old Fokou, who’s tied for fourth on the Titans with 19 tackles, said he’s enjoyed the challenges that come with being the man in the middle.

“When you’re in the middle like that, you have to command the attention of all those guys in the huddle, grown men,” Fokou said. “It’s challenging, but it’s good.

“When you look at those guys’ eyes and you can see the fight they have in their eyes, especially feeding off you, it just makes you play harder for them. And when they see you playing hard, they kind of feed off the (middle linebacker) as well. So it’s been a good experience so far.”

I actually can't too much complain about the play of Fokou this year.

Apparently, the coaches feel the same way since McCarthy can no longer get on the field anymore.

Fokou looks like he's old enough to have fathered half our team, so I dont see him being in charge being an issue.
